Alienware 18 (2013) with damaged LCD - Enormous difficulty sourcing a screen in The Philippines

    Hi there,

I accidentally damaged my Alienware (2013 first version) LCD screen in October last year, and I'm having huge difficulty in finding a replacement part here in Manila in The Philippines.

I bought the machine in September 2013 in Paris, France and (rather stupidly) I only took the one year warranty.
I've received a quote from the only DELL Authorised Support Center here in Manila of just under $740 (!!) purely for the part without fitting, which I think is extremely excessive.
After looking on Ebay at various advertisements where the price ranges from about $200 to $300, I've found that they won't ship here to the Philippines.

The part is a Samsung FHD with serial LTM184HL01 C01 and DELL part number 184HL/XJY7J.

Speaking to a few helpful support guys in America, they suggest that another option would be to renew the warranty (which is around EUR220 for one year and applies to France) and then attempt to claim on this, hoping that they'll honour it even though I'm now based in the Philippines. I'm not sure if that's the best solution, as it seems quite longwinded and I still run the risk of DELL saying that the warranty is no longer valid as I'm not in France anymore.

Any help on finding a part would be greatly appreciated by you guys - I'm hooking this thing up to a TV screen via HDMI but recently I've started to get the 8 beeps problem and I know it'll only be a matter of time until I'll always get the 8 beeps problem and this 4000EUR laptop will become a very large and expensive paperweight.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Sam

Thanks for the prompt reply Mr Fox but unfortunately parts people don't ship to the Philippines :(
Fortunately I don't have EVGA Precision X on this machine.

    Kind regards,
    Sam

Thanks Smoke. I've just found a site that does package shipping to the Philippines from the US ( https://www.myus.com/ph/) for a reasonable price so I'll see whether I can use them in combination with Mr. Fox's find :)

I can ship it to the philippines for you, just cover all costs and we're good, if things do not work out.
(would need full dimensions and weight of the package, and could quote you cost etc)
