I sold my 7970s and purchased R9 M290Xs for pretty much the same price, but when I went to reuse my M18x crossfire cable....they didn't fit the R9 M290X, and the old one is too big. I tried to cut it up around the connector to get it to fit, but that didn't work either. Looks like there is a different cable in use, so if anybody has an Alienware. 18 with M290X CF, please see if you can disassemble and get me the part number, or if you switched to Nvidia and have leftover parts, please sell me your old cable!

More VRAM at pretty much no cost.....until now. I didn't think I would need a different xfire cable.

I've posted photos somewhere and mentioned it, but the Alienware 18 GPU bridge cable is longer. You can use it on the M18xR1/R2 in a pinch, but the part from older systems won't be long enough to use on the 18. The spacing between the PCIe slots is just enough wider on the 18 that it won't reach. I've never seen (other than a few extremely rare posts from owners in this forum) an AMD-powered Alienware 18, but it makes sense it applies to their bridge cables for the same reason.

Its not even the length. Just the physical connector is too big on the old cable it seems, or I have no idea how to plug it in....and I'm having the hardest time tracking down that stupid cable that is original to the Alienware 18.

Anyway, I got the cable to work with some trimming, but I sold the cable to somebody else in a similar situation. I will be selling off all my AMD gear unfortunately.
