    Hello everyone.
I have a big problem with my alienware 18 .
    This is the starting configuration: i7 4700mq-16 gb ddr31600-2x780m sli-64gb msata+wd 750gb.
First I updated the bios at A10 version from A02 and the system worked perfectly.
    Then I replaced the cpu with i7 4930xm,ram with Kingston ddr3 1600 cl9 and the Western Digital 750gb with 2 ssd crucial m550 256gb.
After mounting all, I turned on the laptop but the screen remained black and after a few seconds is turned off, rebooting continuously.
    Where I was wrong?
I tried to reset the bios, but without success.
    Can someone help me?

Time to strip it down and figure out what you likely did not connect quite right.

Yeah, something's not connected properly as it doesn't power up at all.. If one your upgrades wasn't working, it would have had the beep codes but some power connector itself is disconnected and causing the thing to not boot at all or reach the stage where you'd have the beep code..

Also you said you upgraded to Kingston DDR4 RAM.. I hope you meant DDR3...

    Sorry.
    Not ddr4 but ddr3,I correct.
I am sure that I have connected everything perfectly.
could be the motherboard that does not work?
I had the beep codes if I mount the old cpu with new ram or the new cpu with old ram (2 beeps or 4 beeps).

Have you put both old CPU and old ram back in at the same time?

If the old / original config doesn't work (using known to be good CPU and RAM) then something else is wrong. Maybe mobo? Could have shorted when new stuff was put in or ... ?

At this point, I'd be hoping for a loose or forgotten cable somewhere otherwise ... IDK.

It sounds silly but also insure your cpu is locked in place. I forgot to turn the screw lock once on my m18x r2 and the same thing your laptop is doing is what mine did. I pulled my hair out for a bit and then I remembered that I may not have done it and there it was loose and unsecured. So.... yeah it can happen. Haha

    No.
I think the problem may be updating the bios not been successful.

But you said the system was working after the update...

More likely something got shorted out on the board....it really sounds like something got fried if your replacing all the components with the stock and it is still not working. What Thermal paste are you using? Conductive? Bent the CPU pins re-installing the new CPU?

You may not even feel a short , or a spark when you opened up the case but you can fry anything in there pretty easily if it isn't handled correctly.

Yes a bad bios flash instantly bricks the system, it could not happen later.

Did you ground yourself while working with the components?

this happened to me also it might be you are not waiting long enough, but return to original config make sure that you have the battery out and you hold the power button for like 90 seconds when i did this and then plugged in power without battery it then booted up. check all connector cables are strait and mounted on the bottom of the keyboard also, check nothing broke on the display connectors also maybe try and boot it up with external monitor also check for bent pins on the processor make sure that it is tight and the screw down is all the way turned make sure that your memory is seated completely although i did not have one seated correctly and it showed up that it wasnt there. if for any reason you remember a spark on any component it could be bad you should always use an esd strap connect to chassis. sometimes in my case i just walked away for a day collected myself dissassembled then reassembled and then crossed fingers hit power and it booted up. i went from a 4810 to 4940 880 to 980m 16g mem to 32g mem i used the dell hyundia memory though. so i had a few different problems with the fun 980s which mr fox helped with. but i am up and running fully.

Always touch something metal before working on notebooks but maybe this time it did not work .
