Hi guys,
So after reading many threads on this forum regarding the poor fan tables and many throttling issues, it is also safe to say I am having the same issue just like maybe most to all of the Alienware 18 owners.
With regards to the main overheating issue due to the poor fan tables of the 18, I need to ask if anyone has called Dell to replace the CPU heatsink and fan.
Apparently, of course, it didn't solve the issue. But after checking many threads on this forum, I noticed some members who own an Alienware 18, is using a lower CFM Fan (~4.0CFM). My CPU fan has a darker case color as well as slightly increased airflow of 5.5CFM (+ ~ 1.5CFM)
I am currently debating whether it is worth risking to get an Alienware M18X R2 CPU Fan instead, since according to extreme IT gigs here like Mr Fox, says that the fan fits perfectly, but just that the cable is a hair too short to reach the fan connector.
I also think something is odd; Despite the CPU fan now pushing the same amount of CFM as the MxM/GPU Fans, the CPU Fan doesn't feel like its pushing out more air than the previous fan I used before Dell replaced it, despite me getting HWINFO to blast all 3 fans to the max (3700, 3500, 3300).
Does anyone know if I can get an extended PWM wire for the CPU fan so it would be able to reach the motherboard header?
and
Does anyone have a modded Bios or software, that can run the fans to maximum speed (exclude Hwinfo or any physical tempering such as temporarily pulling out the Fan Control wire on the pwm header/Power only [Full RPM at 4200RPM])

Sound
I am not sure if anyone else is facing this, but if you install the sound driver with Dolby Home Theater v4, there is some sort of audio amplification exploit or bug. If you plug in an audio device into the middle audio jack and when a window pops up, asking which device you plugged in (Headphone or Center/Subwoofer for 5.1), the subwoofer amplifies and the laptop becomes a lot louder which is cool and all (This happens when you have not selected any audio device when it asks you)
But so far, these speakers are doing well, I frequently run them at max and my 18 is close to 2 years old, when I blast them and hear like they are blowing, they are actually rattling the case of the 18 because they are strong!!
Surprisingly, the 18's speakers were so strong that went I brought her to one convention, but a small one, the whole convention could hear the laptop and they had to tell me to lower the volume LOL.
Alienware 18 fan upgrade? + some sound "amplification" exploit
