I will definitely give that a try. Thanks for the pic.

Well I just tried that and nothing happened. Its definitely all the way in because I can't push it more and I can still see the bronze color of the HDMI connector. What program should run when it detects input?
Any other ideas?
Also when I use FN + F8 it says: "Please connect HDMI input Device" -

First mod done!!!
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...20&authkey=!AGBq5cWD5Or4GhM&ithint=folder,jpg
I used a M14x front led board and some wire extension. I wire it to the Alienware screen logo. I Also added black wiring tape to the display behind the alien head because I didn't want the light to pass to the display.
There's a very bad image of the pin out, but its not hard to understand when you are seeing both boards. Just connect the cables in parallel and use some tape to hold the cables and board in place.
Also there's a video of the mod
Now I will end my mold and start working with some fiberglass and carbon fiber to finish my panel mod and then full carbon fiber chassis will follow  -

It sure looks amazing. I can't believe that Alienware/Dell didn't include it. -
They had it in the older M15x/M17xR2 and brought it back for the newer Alienware 14/17/18 models. I don't know why they got rid of it, it was nice.

I did try that one, but it crashes a lot...
Well I have been testing this GPU and I have to say that its amazing. It runs every game at ultra and with high FPS. Haven't see any lag so far in any game. Its amazing how sexy Skyrim looks with all the mods I have and in ultra

All I can say is that if games work for you, that is what matters.. Benchmarks mean when it comes to playing games.. Enjoy your laptop

I remember messing with the boot image with Windows XP. It resulted in a few corrupt installs.
That looks awesome though.Rotary Heart likes this. -

Well its very easy to do and install. Download this software Windows 7 Boot Updater this software lets you create, change and modify your boot animation.
If you want to create your own boot animation you need 105 frames, where 60 frames will run only once and the other 45 frames will loop. (If you have less than 105 frames the last frame will keep repeating until it gets to the 105 frames).
Here's a link to the one I created: Alienware Boot Animation
Just open the software click file -> load boot skin -> search the .bf7 file and open it. Now you can see the animation and you can customize the text. When you are done just click apply and enjoy

Well I have made some big modifications to my Alien Fx program.
Here's a video of the new feature
The numpad is changing color depending on GPU temps. You can hear when the fan is at full rpm and the color of the numpad goes to red. Sadly my camera can't compensate with the display brightness and the colors can't be appreciated, but they are
yellow
yellow almost orange
orange
orange almost red

Thats awesome. Would you be able to do that with the macro keys?
So they keep their normal behaviour (3 colors that can be cycled ) but change once certain designated temperatures are reached just like you've done with the numpad ?Rotary Heart and reborn2003 like this. -

I'm still trying to figure out why the Alien FX sdk doesn't have any option to change the macro keys color. Funny thing is that I saw the winamp alien fx plugin and the macro keys do change.... Still trying to see if I can do it following the winamp plugin source code.TBoneSan likes this. -

Still pulling my hair with this. That c++ source code is giving me some big challenges.
So far the system is at 80% done. You can select what part of your computer you want to change and with what(GPU, CPU, RAM, HDD... - Temp, Load, Clock, Power...) they are working as warning lights, so it will keep running your designated theme and when it hits the range value (set by yourself) the designated leds will change to the designated color(set by yourself).
I will upload it when its at a 95% completed, since the other 5 percent will be to have a plugin that reads the default .ath themes (alien fx themes) and convert them to my system. (For the few of us that already have spent time creating an awesome theme and don't want to create it over again).
Also it should work with all the alien fx systems (including desktops) so it will be amazing if I can have some testers with different Alienwares. Since I will love to update the background image (currently the m18x) with the detected computer. -
Great stuff man. I'm keen to use it. It would be sweet keeping the original Alien FX colors only until temps reach a set level

That's how it's going to work. I have some good new for you. I was finally able to make that source code work. So now its possible to change the macro keys color (without affecting the TactX commands). Now I just need to include an option for hardcore users (since this "new" method is not as easy as the SDK provided by Alienware)Kade Storm, reborn2003, TomJGX and 2 others like this. -

Almost finished with this feature. It changes the color depending on screen color. Zones can be adjusted manually to any part of the screen.

Indeed.. Will it work with the R4? You should make this mod available and hell I'm quite sure quite a few people would be happy to use it and donate

It should work with all the AlienFX systems. I will publish it once I have re organized the GUI. -
Take your time to do this.. Make it as perfect as possible

Man, that's crazy good, Brother Rotary. I normally prefer my AlienFX lighting to stay one static color, but the way the colors follow the screen (video and ribbons screen saver) looks amazing.

Well after a LOT of thinking, searching, and reading I want to ask for my Alienware brothers help. I am thinking about jumping to the other side ("desktop" side) I have been doing a lot of research on the parts, but I really need some help with the MOBO....
Dam there are many, many, many MOBO and the more I research the more confused I am with them. Can any one give me some light on this topic? I was thinking on asking on desktop forums, but they are either dead or hard on noob people.
So far i have been almost convinced by this Asus one -

I'm no desktop expert, but Brother Pathfindercod used an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition in the build he recently described here:
My fellow AW brothers a look into my current addiction
Awesome build and a spectacular looking job. Not sure if it fits in with your plans, Bro.....he's actually selling it in the NBR Marketplce right now.....Rotary Heart likes this. -
You can go wrong with Asus motherboards.. I also believe @EviLCorsaiR used a similar motherboard in his build.. However, I would suggest holding out doing anything till September till Skylake comes out.. it will be a massive upgrade and the Skylake processors will be using LGA1151 and not 1150 so your motherboard will be useless for any future upgrades!Rotary Heart likes this.
