hi guys, sorry if this is a repost as I would most likely be getting the fan soon.

I asked Dell and they could not test the fan for me since they said there was a "code" or something that says that the 11.7CFM may not be compatible.

I don't think it's a code issue or whatever, but I was wondering if anyone in this forum is using the 11.7CFM fan in the 18 R1?

Yes I know that the cable is short but I got someone that can help me cut and solder longer wires but does it work when the M18X R2 CPU Fan is plugged into the 18 R1

    Thanks guys!

Fan is not the problem. Problem is in the A18 EC firmware code for the fan tables, which activate too slow.

Hardware wise I don't see a problem. I was considering it myself a year and a half ago.

I am gonna be buying a new one tomorrow. Will get some IT laptop repair company to modify the wiring for me.

Will post back for any results in a new thread of my custom cooler.
