    Alienware M18x R1 keyboard difference?

    I want to buy new keyboard for my M18x.

    My keyboard has blue color flat cable. New one has green color flat cable. Same model number: NSK-D8G01

    Will the green color flat cable keyboard work on my system? It is the same as I sad just different color of flat cable.

    That only half an answer, while it will work, the ASDW keys will be messed up, you need to get KB with same colour ribbon cable as you've had now.
    Dunno why they have one different keyboard with just those 4 keys differently allocated :/

    Keys are not mapped properly, pressing a key gives wrong output, iirc it is something like this:
    A -> Nothing
    W -> A
    S -> 2 or -
    D -> A

    Dunno which colour is which, but i'm 99% sure if you have R2 you can use both green and blue, but R1 can only use what it came with and not the other one, as the asdw are not mapped properly.

    Do you have R1 or R2? i can't tell.
    If you have R2 you should be ok, but with R1 i would cancel the order :)

    I have R1. Wanted to buy last week new Alienware,but I saw that they dont make anymore M18x models,so I retired from buying new laptop.

    I made change and ordered with blue flat cable. Also I am planing to upgrade my M18x R1 now... R2 MB, 32GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866Mhz, 480x2 850 EVO Samsung + 500GB WD Black for DVD bay mod + external optical Asus zen optic drive,Intel 6300 (bought last week),... And I think latter this year 2x GTX 980m :)

    Ok great :) yeah they only sel Alienware 18 now, it's worse than the R2 and i wouldn't want it no matter what :)

    I7 Extreme 2920xm now. I wont upgrade CPU it is GREAT. :)

    I now have besides this CPU,Kingston HyperX PnP 8Gb 1866Mhz DDR3,Kingston HyperX 3k SSD,Hitachi 750GB 7.200rpm,2x HD6990m Crossfire... I play preaty much what I want on ULTRA or HIGH. BF 4,BF HL,SC 2,... :)
