oh yeah, VGA! :D but do all the screens need be in exact same resolution to work or will all screens will down-res to VGA max resolution capacity? :D I think VGA gives less than 1080p.... ?

If you are doing windows extending to the display they do not need to be the same resolution however the 680M should be able to pull all 4 at 1080p correct me if I'm wrong though about the 680M though :) ;) I'm positive about extending

ah yea :) I just hope VGA port can pull 1200p resolution, as if not, I need miniDP adapter to HDMI... I guess..

yea I would be extending displays so can have broader desktop for heavier multitasking at home.

If the 1200p = 1920x1200 then yes it will VGA stops at 2048x1536

My dell below uses VGA and it runs 1920x1200 (of course not native for the monitor so the monitor complains) without throwing a fuss but it's been running 1920x1080 cause that's the monitors programmed max

Yeah VGA is quite capable resolution wise.

At the moment I run one 1920x1080 and one 1440x900 display in extended mode. You can tell the drivers how you want to align them to match how they are in real life with either a step up or down to the smaller monitor.

Its all down to what the graphics is capable of. So you can use nvidias multi monitor guide.

I've run out of ideas and need help please. I've tried a dozen suggestions from google without success. Many people have it working so obviously it's something simple I'm doing wrong.

I have an alienware M18x R2 with dual 680M video cards. I have a Benq XL2410T 24 inch external monitor. I have them connected using a HDMI cable. A different HDMI cable didn't help.

I am running windows 8. Windows detects the external monitor and shows I have 2 monitors and that the second monitor is the Benq XL2410T but I can't get anything to display on the second monitor.

I am using the recommended Dell Nvidia drivers from the Dell website.

Any suggestions please as to how I can get this setup displaying on both monitors?

    cheers

Did you reboot with the monitor connected?

Is the monitor set to the correct input?

You're not connected to the HDMI-In, are you?

Have you tried the Windows Key + P?

    Yes

Yes I have the monitor set to HDMI. It has 3 options - DVI, D-SUB and HDMI. I have it set to HDMI

No I'm plugged in the HDMI out. Left side with all the other video options VGA etc

    Yes but no change

One thing I forgot to add is that the monitor keeps coming up with an error HDMI No Signal whenever I turn it on.

nVidia Control Panel detects both monitors and lets me change any settings but that doesn't help.

I never would have thought of this because you mentioned that your laptop recognized your monitor, but let us know what ends up happening.

Yes I agree. My laptop does recognize the monitor but anyway I'm going to try shaving the HDMI connector. May not be for a day or two as I am waiting for my neighbour to do it for me.

Well trimming the HDMI plug worked!! We trimmed 2-3 mm of the plug casing and the plug went right in. The picture immediately appeared on the second monitor.

Many thanks for all the help.

    cheers

I assume it's the same on yours, but I use 2 external monitors with 1 monitor output via hdmi and another 1 via the mini display port...(as well as the laptop screen too) for 3 usable screens.

    Hi, new here.

Has anyone tried running Nvidia Surround on an Alienware 18 (dual gtx 780m SLI)? 2D surround, not 3D. Ran a search through the forums but didn't come up with anything.

Currently I'm running 3 external monitors + 1 internal just fine, but I cannot figure out how to activate Nvidia surround.

    Appreciate any help.

Ultimate goal is to be running 3 x 1080p 120hz 1ms portrait monitors in surround, 3 x 2560 x 1440 ips monitors, 1 x touchscreen monitor for win 8 apps, and laptop internal monitor - total 8 screens off alienware 18.

Help me achieve this feat my brethren.

I'd like an answer to this too but I don't think it is currently possible to do 3 monitors at 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1660.

I'm about to start backreading this thread, but i'm hoping someone might just happen to know the answer off the top of their heads in the meantime.

    Alienware 18, nvidia setup.

I'm looking to run 4 screens:
    1 x Laptop Screen (1920x1080, Lower center)
    2 x Dell 2412 screens (1920x1200, left and right)
    1 x HTDV (720p, Top Center)

I'm currently up to 3 screens with no issue, but i know i'm about to run in to an output issue from the Laptop.

What is everyone using to get 4 screens on the AW18 without input lag or much in the way of additional hardware?
