At this point, I'm about to just write this off as a major loss and just move on and buy something else. I'm tired of having to travel to school (gas $$$) just to use a damn workstation. Definitely NEVER purchasing a Dell computer again, that is for sure. First they torpedo their Alienware laptop line, then they torpedo their support system. Fantastic business model they've got going.

They could always handle this kind of customer service failure using simple logic. Worked for these guys. :vbwink:

If you don't want to overclock you still should use Liquid ultra. Other paste is a waste.

I think $11.50 sounds about right. That's what I got it for when I got it from Amazon.

Got the laptop today. Suffering from yellow tint in upper right screen. Bezel does not line up correctly, visible separation on the right side of the screen on the top.WTF? Rubberized palm rest is flaking on the corners. Thermal paste all over the bottom rubber feet. strange white fibers in the vents. "Samsung SSD activated" sticker on the bottom, but plextor SSD in the bios. Yeah, premium replacement there Alienware.

Who wants to buy this POS from me so I can be rid of Alienware once and for all?

2000. Come get your PLS screen AW 18 with 780M SLI, 4930MX, 8GB RAM, 256GB M5S SSD, and warranty left until may 2016. I'm through with Alienware's crapola QC.

Oh. One more thing. When I booted into the BIOS, it was on intel GFX so I assume that is the default. I went to do graphics switch to do the 780M SLI mode, and guess what? BRICK. No beeps. Just a black screen with no backlight even on. Seriously Dell?

From what you describe, it sounds like it looks like something they dug out of the bottom of a dumpster in the corner of the back parking lot, not to mention it has multiple functionality problems. What a horrible outcome for a system exchange. I'm so sorry, bro.

Its an outlet machine correct? If so they have better return policy then OEM purchase still of 30 days?

I say call, reject it (document it well with pics) and return for cash refund, no matter what manager it takes to talk to. If they cant send you a decent, working machine to replace the one they no longer make, that you paid for hardware support on, then they therefore owe you at least the cash cost of the machine you were willing to accept, assuming it functioned.

Talking to Alienware's Facebook team, I will see where this goes. I'm not shipping them my M18x R2 until I have a 100% functioning replacement.

It really sounds like it's time To go to small claims court in your area. Sometimes nothing makes a company react like the courts.

Yeah, good idea... definitely don't do that. You will have zero leverage if that machine leaves your sight before a satisfactory replacement is provided. They already had a chance to fix it. I'm just happy you actually got it back from the depot in one piece after hearing your account of what they sent as a replacement.

Imagine that!! You actually call and get your issue handled Try that first next time. I have been an Alienware customer for many years and have always found out calling works better( as with anything) you still under warranty?

That didn't really work... I had to call to get my comptuer replaced, and it ended up being worse than what I began with. At least with my M18x R2, I switched the graphics card around so I can use a single 7970M. The AW18 they sent me won't even boot anymore when I put it into SLI mode.

I suggest you to first read all thread then write a post. If you would do that you would know that everything is far away from solved...

This is unbelievable how they threat you @Raidriar... I hope you will get everything solved very soon.

I hope so too, but I am doubtful. No faith in the system anymore. My dad's Alienware 17 is getting the same treatment now. It is not encouraging to know that the Alienware rep on this board was active yesterday, but chose to completely ignore this thread.

The Alienware Facebook team couldn't figure out what was wrong with my LCD. Sent them this picture and was sure to point out the yellow blotch over the Alienware logo and top right, the backlight bleed in the left and right bottom corners, and a little bleed on the top right. I wonder what their excuse will be now, or if they are just blind.

It seems like this entire process has come to a halt. No more emails from Dell, no more phone calls, no more PMs here on AW arena, no more contact from the Facebook group. Dead end. This Alienware 18 abomination....I'm not sure what to do with it. It is only half working currently. Debating selling all 3 systems I have, since none of them are fully operational. and will likely need to be parted out.

Special thanks to Alienware's support team including here on NBR, for being 100000% apathetic and incapable of handling this situation. Shout outs to @ Alienware-Wasserman and @Alienware-L_Porras.

Very special heartfelt thanks to @Mr. Fox for actually trying to help me diagnose/repair the abomination Alienware 18 I received. More useful and helpful than all of Alienware's support team put together.
