I will start at the beginning...

In a galaxy quite far away... Well, at least 15 minutes down the road...Anyway I owned a very nice m17x (R1), as you can see from my signature. Unfortunately, during a battle with the dust mites, carpet fluff and the hard concrete floor underneath, it had a serious accident. Dented pride, torn side and stomach ache, not to mention a very very bad headache!!! As a result, was deemed "un-economical to repair" and very sadly had to be put down...

After many discussions with the very helpful member of the Rebel Alliance (insurance people), I managed to arrange funding for a replacement, which would enable me to rejoin the war...

    This is the continuing saga...

    Friday 28th September 2012

Funding has been arranged and I can now start shopping for my new Alienware laptop. I wanted duel graphics cards for there performance boost and so there was only one laptop to look at, the M18X...Awesome to look at and apparently even better to use..

I logged into the Alienware/Dell web page, and began the process of configuring my "dream machine" and found that it could be a very expensive process...

After reading some very helpful advice on the forum (NBR) I learnt that you can replace the memory and save money...

This reduced the overall costs to a manageable level but, when I asked a very helpful Dell/Alienware Rep.'Joseph' for a quote, I was surprised with the offer that came back, which included 3 years pro warranty (24hr call out).. as it was too good to pass up I said yes...

The specs are as follows :-

    i7 3920XM processor Overclocked to 4.1Ghz
Nebula red - Anodized aluminium casing
    6144Mb RAM @1600Mhz
    256Gb Dell Mobility SSD @6Gb/s
    DVD+/-RW drive - Slot loading
    Duel 2Gb DDR5 nVidia 680M GTX Sli
    Windows 7 Home Premium

I am replacing the 6Gb with 16Gb Kingston HyperX memory @1688Mhz and using a WD portable 2Tb external drive via USB 3.0 @ 5Gb/s for media.

The SSD will be used for Windows and gaming, which at the moment will be Skyrim in full HD & possibly Diablo 3 on Nightmare.

I was told by Joseph that once the financial part has been cleared I would get an oder confirmation and would then ba able to track my order.

    Sunday 30th September 2012

9:30am, I received a phone call from a lady from Dell checking the delivery address.
10:05am, I received the all important order conformation email.
11:00am, I logged in and found that my order was at Pre-Production. My estimated delivery date is 26th October 2012, although from what I have read it will be slightly before that date, 2 - 3 weeks being the normal time for a typical order to be processed and delivered.

    1st October 2012

    Pre-Production

My 2Tb Hard drives arrived, currently moving all backed up files to this one drive.

    3rd October 2012

Have been informed that my memory will arrive tomorrow, all set for the big arrival.

    6th September 2012

I now have my 2Tb drives, fully loaded with all backup's in one place and 16Gb 1866mhz HyperX memory...

    8th October 2012

    Gutted, Angry, Very Disappointed

, Rang Dell to find out what was happening as i was still on Pre-Production and was told that the motherboard was out of stock and not being replenished, as of the 2nd October.... Noone had told me anything.

I now have to cancel and rebook my order....

Joker, where is my bomb detonator? I can't seem to find it, do you think I left it in the supply van when I helped you load it with the explosive mannequins?

I'm getting really sick of Mr. Batman and his shenanigans, hopefully our plan works this time.
