Are you able to slide the M18x into the cooler (without fans) so that the cooler covers the laptop for transportation?

As you can see in the pic (Damn so much dust), the rubber feet (yep both sides) stand on the aluminum surface of the cooler and the vents on the M18x match the vents on the cooler and they are very close to each other as the rubber lines on the cooler are almost as high as the rubber feet of the laptop.

Temps while browsing internet (Max fan speed, room temp 28C):

I vacuumed the desk and used the DataVac ED500 to blow all the dust off the CryoLX and the M18x last week. Because the desk is near the window and the window is open all the time so it tends to get dusty :(.
Btw ivander, are you able to slide the M18x into your U3 (without fans) so that the cooler covers the laptop and save space for transportation? And could you please post your idle temps with max fan speed on?

here is idle temp, my room is 20C its always stays that way with u3, if tilted its gonna be around 40, and on flat surface 50. I don't know any other way to measure it more detail.. if you know how let me know :) i'll definitely try, I'm curious as well..

I'll put the pics with the m18x inside the u3 without fans in a minute i'll try to put it in the bag as well..

I think you should consider something simpler.. like

i used it everyday, dust sticks to it like magnet :)

you have to watch out on your computer though. i dont know if it produces static electricity, but if it does, that can be damaging to your components.

Vacuum solves the problem, the sf-19 has no dust filters so it's sort of a requirement similar to non-filtered case fans. Move laptop use vacuum on cooler, flip latop onto bed use vacuum on m18x fans. Takes 30 secs.

Wow, you really vacuum the back of your M18X? Sounds dangerous.

I guess you use a traditional handheld one?

Ya, nothing powerful like a shop vac, just one strong enough to pull the dust and not much else. It's roughly the same as using compressed air, just pulls instead of pushes.

Edit: You could probably use a standard household one with the brush adapter since it would diffuse the suction fairly well.

Thanks, I'm really getting nervous about this whole deal. I don't know when I'll be able to purchase the handheld vacuum and if I should look for something specifically tailored to sucking air out from computer fans.

I also probably can't pickup something until the next time I go back to the US in a couple months, don't want to spend $200 on a fancy vacuum here especially if it's not what I need.

Do you think there can be serious longterm problems attributed to not sucking out the dust from the M18X within 3 months? Same Q for the SF19. :(

Sonaks, i can assure you that no metal parts of the Notepal U3 touches the topside or the backside of the M18x due to the rubber feet and the m18x plastic holder on top. so u dont need to worry Notepal U3 scratching ur m18x :)

I am considering getting a 2nd one and not installing the fans just for when I'm on the go, that way I'm not taking the fans on/off all the time.

I've paid a lot more, for a lot less of a cooling pad.

I had them from my desktop already,I think frozen cpu or newegg,I honestly dont remember,I used to change parts in my desktops regularly so I just used what I had,If your handy its easy.I am custom painting my m11x now the prep work was a bear,I used all ppg flex self etching primer and all custom base coat clear coat deltron for cars.I put a custom heat pipe and fan in my m14x that had heat design issues.Point is if you already have leds and are good at pcs its simple and fans are all over net,I set up digital fan control from my desk also.Ever need help just let me know.I can look through my records later and give you exact info later.

I just read this and i actually own both products lol :p

The notebook cooler is great, it provides with 4 USB 2.0 ports, and the lights really compliment the lights on your laptop. Fans are a bit noisy at full speed, but you notice the temperature drop down.

In my advise, a worthwhile product :)

I have been looking at this Cooler Master Storm SF-19 cooler and for you and anyone else that owns one, I have a couple of questions. It looks as if the fans are not ideally placed for the M18x. Do you have to scoot the M18x down on the cooler to align the cooler fans with the GPU and CPU air intakes? It seems as though placing the M18x in the center of the cooler pad would have the fans blowing on the center of the M18x where the forced air would not be all that effective. The one with USB 2.0 is less expensive, but (at least based on photos) has sort of unattractive gray highlights. The SF-19 with USB 3.0 is all black (looks more attractive in photos to me) but seems to be severely overpriced.

For the folks that own one, what are your CPU temps running 3DMark11 and Vantage (without forcing fans using SpeedFan or HWiNFO64) without the cooler compared to the same benchmark runs with the cooler running fans full blast (also without forcing fans using SpeedFan or HWiNFO64)? I'm trying to determine if this thing is really worth the money and will produce a huge reduction in temps running benchmarks, or mostly just a fancy looking platform for the M18x to rest on. I know it will not be a substitute for using an AC unit for chilled air, LOL. Are we talking about a 2°C-3°C improvement, or an 8°C-10°C improvement in CPU temps? So yeah... looking for real numbers from real users.

I am not really concerned about GPU temps, because my GPUs are almost always under 80°C even under extreme loads. But, feel free to share CPU and GPU temp differences if you have both.

Right now, I'm using a less expensive approach.

    Fox,

I have the U3 and it is awesome, its light, you can put the fans where you want with a very good button/clip system that makes changing positions easy. On my set up I run very cool today I was gamming for around 5 hours straight and i got to 69c, granted im not oc'ed but before my pad I was running around 77-82. I would be happy to post any pictures or screenshots of my temps if you are interested.

Not to mention on amazon they are 30 dollars.

That actually sounds like the right cooler for my M18x. The one I 'm using right now has one fan in the middle and I actually got lower temps with it turned off!!!??? Don't ask me why. Think I'll order this one.
