This card looks beast! Just wondering if would be compatible with the M18? At this time the 1103 it is only availible on some new systems and uses a 3 antenna array. When available, this could be a nice replacement to the Intel 6300. Review is of a 1102, 2 antenna card.
Killer? Wireless-N 1103,

yes its compatible. if you look up at the dell drivers, you can see that you are able to download it.
but the question is.... where can you get the card? so far the card is only available when you purchase a clevo laptop. -
You are correct. Perhaps some of our NBR "notebook retailer" friends may help, i.e. Aikimox, Malibal #2, Sager?
-
Yup, the card is orderable
-

aikimox. i would to place an order
how much is it anyways? -
I would also like to order one of these. I have been really disapointed in the intel 6300.
-
We are in the process of updating the website. It will take a few days before you can order it online. Those in a rush can try ebay sellers.
-
So apparently it performs better than the N 6300 and is also cheaper. Is it easy to swap out the wireless card? If so, then I will leave it at the 6200 and just buy the Bigfoot and add it in.
-
Aren't those Bigfoot cards really Atheros chipsets? Not that it's a bad thing because I think Atheros is the better of the two (vs Intel). I'm waiting for the Atheros AR9462 which is a Dual band chip with Bluetooth 4.0 capabilites as well. I'd like to see something like that from BigFoot.
-
So if i order m18x with Intel® Advanced N 6200 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO as stock and upgrade to Bigfoot i'll still have Bluetooth 3.0, cause it's a seperate module? How to switch 2 antena adapter to 3 one? Where to get an extra cable?

Will this work in the R2? Because I have wanted one for a long time. -
I knew you would come through
rep+1
No, you need to order the 6300 so you have the third antenna. The way it is routed through the LCD top cover, I would recommend letting the factory install it.
Again, order the 6300 for the third antenna.
Yes, just remember, 1102: 2 antennas, 1103: 3 antennas. -
Incorrect, doesn't matter what card is ordered the third antenna is included.
-
True^^
I have a 6200 in my M18x and there are 3 antennas (the grey one is not connected obviously since the stock card only supports 2). -
The problem with having one module control both wireless and bluetooth is that you can't disable them independently with the WiFi switch. I have a bluetooth mouse, and I love that I can disable the WiFi and/or WiMax with a single press of the WiFi switch WITHOUT disrupting my mouse.
This is something that the M17x was missing, even though the M1730 had it, so I'm very happy to see it back in the M18x. I would never lose that in favor of a single WiFi/BT card. -
Akimox count me in for this wifi card. Can you please pm me when your company has these on sale?
Thanks -

^^^ same
Please Aikimox! Also I am sure some M17x users would be interested in purchasing these. I will make a thread there as well!
-
I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.
-
Sure, will PM you guys as soon as it can be ordered. BTW, there are two versions - Killer Wireless-N 1102 and 1103 (300Mbps and 450Mbps).

1103 for me please!
-
Put me down for one please!
Thanks -
Bump on the 1103;/
-
Don't want to overload ya Aikimox, but when they're available I'd like a heads up also.
-
I am interested on the 1103 but do we have a price for these yet?
-
Unfortunately the 1103 is on a pre-order yet and we don't even have an ETA.
I'm expecting to hear some news from Bigfoot today.
As for the 1102, the price is 45$ + shipping. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
I will wait for the 1103!
Keep us posted Aikimox!
-
Interested in this card for my m11x, but after reading some of the reviews on the website..... Not too sure I want it anymore. Anyone have some first hand contact with Bigfoot parts?
-
Got an update from Bigfoot, - it would take more than a month before the 1103 can be ordered (no pricing as of yet).
BTW, unless you have a very good router there will be little difference between the 1102 and 1103. I'm gonna grab one 1102 for my M18x and see how it performs compared to the 6200/6300.
According to our Sager/Clevo customers, the card is a real kicker. Anyway, we have a batch coming in next week, so I can do some testing there. -
Cant wait to hear what your reviews are on it. The people on the bigfoot web page that are blasting the card seem to have no first hand use of the cards, so a person who actually has the card is going to be my trusted source.... even if that person is trying to sell the card to me.
-
I'm definitely buying the 1103 when you find a price feel free to PM or email me and I can even pay upfront to guarantee I get one ASAP.
Thanks -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Pm me as well Aikimox when the 1103's are available I will pay in advance to secure my card as well. Would I see an improvement with my current router with the 1103? It is this one:
Linksys E4200 - Maximum Performance Wireless N Router - Cisco Home Products Store
Just bought it because my netgear router died. -
The biggest improvement will be for LAN parties and LAN networks. As far as your regular browsing, the improvements would be minimal due to multiple bottlenecks. The card won't be able to magically improve the internet connection if there's a slow link somewhere on the ISP side or even in your building.
Also, between 300 (1102) and 450mbps (1103) you won't really see a difference, even in LAN games. It's mostly for bragging rights
-
Great news, we all look forward to your review.
-
The one on BIGFOOT KILLER WIRELESS-N 1102 | eBay Only comes with 2 antena connections, correct me if I m wrong.
-
Yep, that what Aikimox mentioned earlier: 1102 uses 2 antennas (300Mbps) where 1103 uses 3 antennas (450Mbps)!
-
And further news on the 1103, - it may take a couple of months before it can be ordered (according to Bigfoot). The 1102 is the only card available on the market.
-
Are you guys getting the 1102s I'd try one for sure
-
I would also be interested in ordering the 1102 from you.
-
Yes, the new batch is coming by the end of this week, shipping as early as 20/06/2011.
-
Whoa, if UPS doesn't screw up we may receive the cards by Friday noon!
-
Woot! Good luck! I'm looking forward for your review!
-
We've got the cards! UPS made it in 18 hours!
Prepare to be picturized!
-
The batch has arrived, each card comes with a sticker:
Here you go, the first M18x with the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1102
The card is installed:
Bigfoot Network Manager:
It will test your ISP potential:
And then tell you that your internet sux (well, mine does anyway)
:
The first impressions are very good. My 100 browser tabs load significantly faster than with the 6200. I will go in details later on, too many business meetings are scheduled for today. Will have to take the beast to the office, we have a much faster network there. Might also try the U of C campus LAN to see some real life numbers.
Our webmasters are getting behind the schedule in updating the website but the card should appear online by the end of tomorrow. -
Aikimox- Great news to know we now have a better alternative to the 6300. Thank you for the screenshots. +1 rep
-
Thanks M8!
Could someone please start a new thread in the global AW section and link this thread there?
Thanks -
Cant wait to order! I got some new wifi antenna I want to try with it
-
Gorgeous pics. I literally cannot wait for you to get the 1103!
-
For those waiting for the link - here you go. PM/Email if you have any questions.
Thanks -
offtopic (sorry), but did you ever get and install the 1866mhz ram?
-
Great price for a great product but whats with the shipping?
