Did you not install the bigfoot manager? I'm going insane. I'm on my second Bigfoot driver, Dell has sent me 2 now, and I'm having the same issues. It disconnects from the internet, but says it's still connected. Hangs for about 10 - 20 seconds then kicks back on...Going nuts.

Did you completely remove Intel Wifi drivers first?

Definitely. Wipe it clean of any Intel drivers. So I redownloaded the .183 drivers and how the hell do you install these? I destroyed anything Bigfoot from my system, CCleaned, restarted, installed the .exe and now my WiFi won't work but in the Bigfoot network manager it says Wireless card is disabled. I'm seriously about to punch this card in the face.

Luckily I found a .213 version I still had downloaded and it worked fine. Latency seems ok, definitely not a fan of Bigfoot though.

Not sure if it's the right place to ask but when transferring larger files to server via wireless 450mbps connection, I get speeds of 75Mbps until file transfer gets halfway and then slows to 3mbps. Using a TPlink WirelessN router and teracopy. Server is running raid5 ext4 filesystem. also running official KillerN drivers.

Sure, you can have it with 2 stickers :) Email sent.

I have a similar setup, but a slower router (216MBs max) and copying large files never drops below 150. What speeds do you get with smaller files?

I think, the best option is to contact Bigfoot support directly. They have been pretty helpful so far.

I am new to this site so I might have posted this to the wrong place.
I accidently uninstalled my Network Manager. Now I can't hook up to my wireless source point. Is there any way to get this back or do I have to restore to factory default?

    Welcome to the site! :D

Since you said that you uninstalled the Network Manager, I imagine that you bought your m18x with the Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1103 wireless card.

You will be able to download the drivers from Dell here: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
Or you can download the drivers direct from Bigfoot's website (newer): Support

DON'T download the ones from Dell. They're very old and cause problems with iTunes and other programs that are fixed in the newest version from Bigfoot

I made the mistake of downloading the old one from Dell and I got a blue screen error on the M18. So I downloaded the one from BigFoot onto a thumb frive. however when I proceeded to uninstall the older version in safe mode (with network) I got an error
Tomorow I will call 1-800-ALIENWARE but surely need your advice as well.
I have also attached a snapshot of my Network Adapters listed in the Device Manager. The file that I have downloaded (to be installed) is named:

    Killer1102-1103Setup_6_1_0_219_win7_64bit

IS RESTORING THE ENTIRE SYSTEM TO FACTORY DEFAULT IN THE CARDS HERE>?

Your help (collectively) has been a blessing

    Ugghhh...I'm at a loss :(

Cards arrived a few days ago, finally had a chance to install one today in my m17x r3, install was no problem, however...

I can't stop beating my head against the wall to solve an issue.
I've tried both version of the Dell drivers and the latest version of the Bigfoot driver for the 1103 for Win7.

The card connects to my router just fine, gets an IP, I can ping, tracert and perform an nslookup just fine...BUT, I cannot surf in either Firefox (normal and add-ons disabled) or IE 9.

I have tried all 3 driver versions and both 2.4g and 5g on my Netgear WNDR3700 router.

I double checked my antenna connections (white #1, black #3, grey #2) on the mini-card but I still can't resolve the issue.

Anyone else with a similar issue??
    Help :(

    Oh and Merry Xmas everyone!!

I've got the exact same problem with my bigfoot 1103 and the same router.
But it worked with 2,4 Ghz Network when set to 54Mbs.
When set to 5 Ghz or 130 Mbs or 300 Mbs it does'nt work.
Really sad I have to say, since the WNDR3700 is no cheap router.

I have a NETGEAR WNDR3400 router and it is a little buggy. It's also not a cheap router. Hindsight is always 20/20. I never had any issues using Linksys routers and should have stuck with them when moving up to wireless-N technology.

I have the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wifi card. What (if any) performance advantages does the Killer 1103 offer over the Ultimate-N 6300?

I will have to reach out to Bigfoot and see what they say.

For now, I swapped in a spare Intel 6300 Ult-N and it works just fine.
In both cases, I took the extreme measure of re-formatting the drive, installing Win7 sp1) and just adding the wifi drivers to see if it would work.

There was nothing else but the base OS (Win7 sp1) plus the Bigfoot drivers (I tried 3 different versions, 2 from Dell and 1 from Bigfoot) and neither would work with TCP traffic. I could ping, tracert, nslookup, etc...but tcp traffic just timed out.

When I re-formatted (again) and installed the Ult-N everything just worked.
So my troubleshooting/guessing leads me to believe there is a problem with the 1103 and tcp traffic over a Netgear WNDR 3700. The typical tcp traffic issue (when you google the problem) is due to an antivirus or firewall app getting in the way, but since I had nothing installed other than the default Windows Firewall (which I tried both On and Off) that couldn't be it.

Note: Ult-N works just fine as well with Windows Firewall On and Off.

The 1103 sounds to be a good card, just bummed I couldn't give it a try.
I will ping back once I hear from Bigfoot support (...hahaha, that sounds funny!!)

Not that much difference on real-world, unless 4ms really matters to you. Killer 1103 is a reference Atheros chip which is optimized, software wise.

In this case it's software what makes it shine. For me it was never about 4ms but about the smooth video steaming and less lag. It's basically an auto firewall preconfigured for gaming (lower ping, less lag), video conferencing (skype, etc), data download and similar activities. What I like the most is that it auto blocks all the "shadow" activities of the OS and heavy apps trying to access the internet whenever it strikes them. With the killer, I don't need to tweak anything, ever :)

Looking for some advice. I havn't used my bigfoot killer 1103 much. Tried to tonight and when I installed it and opened Mozilla, I get a BSOD. I was reading online and it looks like an issue between bigfoot and McAfee. Anyway around this? I don't want to uninstall McAfee. Anyone have this issue?

I don't know.. There are so many options u can set with OpenWrt.
The original Firmware of WNDR3700 is based on an old version of OpenWrt.
Maybe the n-Protocols are extended now or fixed or whatever.

I've seen that posted about Firefox combined with McAfee not playing nice with Killer Wireless before. It seems really strange to find a conflict like that. I don't use McAfee security products. Sorry I cannot offer any advice on this. Maybe someone that uses McAfee has found a work-around they can share with you.

If you end up having to go with something else to get the Killer working right, try ESET or Vipre. I like both security products quite a lot. They are light on system resources, very effective and highly configurable. (The lack of ability to configure file and folder exceptions is one of the reasons I don't use McAfee.)

Sentinel, this happens every time to me. I have the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 3x3 MIMO and every M18x replacement ships to me with Intel 6200 2x2 in error. There seems to be some sort of issue with a systemic downgrading of hardware specs. I also started out with a BluRay burner, which they no longer offer for some odd reason. (The model I have is still available, just not sold by Alienware any more.) With each exchange I have needed to disassemble both systems to transfer parts to avoid being downgraded.

I actually had one uninformed nitwit try to tell me the 6200 was an upgrade that was faster than the 6300, LOL.

Having said that, they will look at what you were supposed to have and quickly send you the correct wifi card. They have always been very good about making it right very swiftly. It's just frustrating to have to deal with it. My current configuration has never been updated to reflect what my system is actually equipped with.

Mine has the 6300, but the original system had the bigfoot. I've sent my contact an email explaining what's happened, as well as asking what they are going to do about the 3D issues with the prototype message, so we'll see.

How hard is it to swap over network cards? I would imagine fitting the bigfoot might be tricky due to the extra antennas?

One of the main reasons I use McAfee is because it was free and I have a year and a half left on it or so. Got it with my R1 which Dell refunded, but the McAfee was never canceled so I use it. I like having the paid full version because it offers a lot of stuff. Never looked at folder exceptions, but I know you can set up custom scans and such. Plus a lot of hate is geared towared it being a "resource hog" which I don't see as it can be set to run in the background with minimal resources. But to each his own. I'll see if I can find anything on it.

I've had good luck with the latest Norton, which I get for free with Comcast.
I was afraid, as others are, of it being a resource hog, but it hasn't so far.

As DR mentioned about McAfee, Norton runs in the background during idle time, unless I manually trigger something, so I have never noticed a hit on OS or Game performance.

Hey DR, you still riding a DR650 btw?
I recently picked up a Multistrada, killer ef'ing bike!!

Anybody find a way to make this card only work ONLY on 5ghz?

Under the driver settings I cannot find anything that will confine the card to work on 5ghz only.

I have a Dual N router and this card always skips 5ghz! All my other laptops connect to the 5ghz without any issues except the laptops with the 1103 cards.

My router is the Linksys E4200 and I use it mostly for the 450mbps capability.
