I was hoping someone here could help me since nobody at dell/alienware nor apple could help me.

I have a alienware 18 with a 4930/ dual 780's. Since I have owned it I have not been able to synch any ipad or iphone . I have tried it with windows 7 and windows 10 as well as tried several versions of itunes spanning about a year and a half, with different usb connectors as well. The iphones and ipad's work perfectly fine when i connect them to other Pc's running windows.

I have disconnected all other USB devices, tried different cables, tried different i-devices. On youtube other people with alienwares have had similar issues but nobody has any solutions.

What happens when i connect my iphone to my alienware 18 is the laptop beeps signifying a new device has been connected and then a couple seconds later it beeps signifying a device has been disconnected. this happens over and over without me touching anything.

If itunes is open my phone and itunes will constantly ask me to "trust this computer" and device both on the laptop screen and the phones screen. So far I haven't had any luck with apple or alienware. Both parties after troubleshooting for awhile come to the conclusion its the other devices fault. Apple blames windows (even though it didn't work on windows 7 either), they blamed me jailbreaking my old iphone 4 ( im up to iphone 6plus S), I have ruled out the idea it could be the actual i-device because i have tried 3 generations of iphones and tablets and none of them will sync to this laptop.

Does anyone think it could be related to the alienware 18's usb drivers? I am not too familiar with that so I wouldn't know. Alienware says it has nothing to do with their laptop, but I know for sure its something on the laptops end thats causing the issue.

If anyone has had this issue before, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have no issue with my iPhone 5S in syncing with iTunes. Maybe reinstall itunes? I know that you have to have the passcode unlocked and on your home screen when you trust the computer.

Mine does the same thing - if you find a solution post it up. I have been dealing with this issue now for a year and a half with no success.

I don't think it's an AW18 problem, my Apple stuff works fine. It sounds like your driver stopped working. Go to device manager. Your device may appear under recovery mode. Right click properties and click on driver tab and update driver. Select browse my computer for driver software. File should be in c\d\e (where ever your apple stuff is installed):\programs files\apple\mobile device support\drivers. Click next and update should start. After update iTunes should see your phone.

    Good luck

very strange. Is this issue only with your Alienware 18? Have you tried any other computers? Sometimes a dying/screwed up lightening cable will do that too....and they have a nasty habit of dying for no reason

Thanks for the response, I have tried doing this and it didn't work. Actually Alienware connected via remotely to my laptop and it didn't work for them either. It's def something with my particular laptop. Like I said, it has done it after fresh installs of Windows 7 and Windows 10. It also does it to multiple Apple devices. Other Alienware owners have reported having the same problem with their laptops, so it must be a mix of hardware and drivers that we are using.

Could it have something to do with the USB driver?

What about having the CPU overclocked? I run my 4930MX @ 4 ghz constantly . Would that mess up the power being supplied by the USB connections? All my other USB devices work fine .

No, has zero to do with the CPU. I would see if you can find updated intel Chipset drivers, since that's responsible for everything that connects to the system, both internal and external.

Will do, I have read other posts from Alienware owners who have the same problem.

What Alienware do you have? Maybe we can trouble shoot and figure it out.

    Mine is a Alienware 18
    I7 4930
    32 go ram
    780m in sli
Two Samsung 840 SSD in raid 0

I have tried disconnecting my external hard drive, USB mouse, ect . Tried different USB ports, tried different iPhone USB wires, tried different iPhones and iPads. None change anything .

In fact when I connect those same iPhones to my parents old desktop computer they sync right away with no problems

I've tried several cables, in fact even got a brand new iPhone 6 Plus S the other day and tried with it right out of the factory with the new cable and still same problem . I then hooked it up to my parents desktop and it worked with no problems. So it's definitely something going on with my Alienware 18.
