    I am not 100% certain, but it could be the USB drivers are not the correct ones. Did you try download the USB drivers from the Dell Support page and install them? If it is the M18xR1 you can only use the Renasas USB 3.0 drivers.

    I had a similar issue with the Alienware 18 and never could resolve it, but never with the M18xR2.

    Hi bro, it's the r2. I wonder if it's a hardware fault.. I havnt tried to install the Dell ones, it's on windows 10 wonder if I need to do windows 7 instead mate? I have had a few r2s without any USB issues though

    you can try the usb ports one by one if they are all working.. looks to me like a usb device has malfunctioned... and make sure that the usb ports are running at usb 3.1 speeds.
    other than that it could be any internal device thats connected over usb interface... bluetooth, webcam, mic, ...

    Managed to fix this guys, was some degraded debris on the motherboard. Used some alcohol cleaner to remove it and its working now.
    The annoying thing this is the sound card doesn't seem to be putting out full volume audio to the speakers, i have looked at the chip and it appears clean and unburnt any ideas? :)

    only thing u can do if you have the skill is replace the chip, but it could very well not be the chip, but some other component that feeds the signal to the speakes ;)
