    I own a Alienware 18 with GTX 880 SLI, 16GB ram.

    is it possible for me to upgrade to GTX1080?

    No, the Alienware 18 (October 2013) Model only supports up to GTX 980m and SLI GTX 980m from the Nvidia brand.
