In the Alienware 18 Downloads section, there is an Alienware X51 Wallpaper collection
When you download it, it's a *.deb file

Yeah, I saw that a long time ago. That is a Debian (Linux) archive.
I Google-searched and came up empty-handed trying to extract the contents. WinZip and 7zip also did not work. Might try a bootable Linux DVD with something like Knoppix. -
This file is meant to be installed in Ubuntu. If your trying to install on windows, you need to download the file for windows. Go back to the site and change the OS for the download to Windows 7,8 or 8.1.

Last time I checked there was no option to download a wallpaper pack for Windows, only the Linux option. I did not check today to see if that has changed.

Right, so Dell sells Alienware laptops preloaded with Windows, does not support Linux officially nor have Linux drivers, but the wallpaper pack is a linux archive....... someone please shoot me

They actually "officially" sold the X51 with Ubuntu for a little while. They made a big deal about it initially, but it fizzled out pretty quickly. Perhaps understandable, since Linux as a gaming platform really blows chunks, game title availability is horribly limited, and the X51 is meant to be a SFF/console replacement gaming solution.
Micro$haft may have given them marching orders to knock it off, and the advancing UEFI pathway to computer hell is not very accommodating.
