Silly question, how can I run on the igp?

The bios says the card isn't detected, and I can't find a place to switch it.

normally on the AW18 its FN +F5 at same time in windows , if you have installed proper driver (come pre-installed with your manchine)

What system? It is FN+F5 on the new Alienware 18, but the M18xR1/R2 is FN+F7. If that does not work, see Ferris23's recommendation.

I wished there was a way to switch the GPU through the BIOS also sometimes one might forget to switch GPUs before formatting I usually prefer having the Intel HD Graphics when I first format and create my first image before installing the drivers.

There is a way, but unfortunately we can't access that menu with the locked-down stock BIOS. It is hidden from view, but you can do it with an unlocked BIOS on the M18xR1/R2, as well as the M17xR3/R4. It is shame that is not accessible because that ability does add a lot of value. Another problem with not having access is you cannot recover from a failed GPU vBIOS flash using "SG" mode like you can with the M18xR1/R2. Maybe they felt it is cheaper to replace GPUs than it is to allow menu access, LOL. (You cannot do vBIOS flash failure recovery with an M17xR3/R4 even with an unlocked BIOS.)

that's another great reason to be able to switch GPUs through BIOS I never thought of that if you had a failed flash from a vBIOS that could be priceless to be able to switch on the fly from BIOS.

All we can do is sit here and wait hoping one day they give us a real unlocked BIOS that this Alienware 18 should've had from the first place!
