    ok what form is the 4980HQ in? would it fit the 18?

    also what other cpus are in the line?

    All "HQ" chips are soldered to the board. You're never getting a HQ chip in an Alienware 18. It is essentially a 4900MQ with a higher default 2-core and 1-core turbo boost and iris pro 5200 graphics instead of HD4600 graphics. The OC limits are the same; 4.2GHz max like a 4900MQ. 4910MQ can go to 4.3GHz on 4 cores, so it is superior in that respect.

    Apple kinda started it though, well they always have been soldered on the apple laptops. But they also started soldering in ram also :/

    dunno how many times i had to replace ram in my previous desktops, i mean it sure happens more often than a cpu or a gpu,but really? ram? and people still buy macbooks?
