So I recently bought an AW M18x R2 which was in new condition but it had an issue with the screen. Before I made that deal there was a seller on Ebay who claimed to have a brand new M18xR2 from his personal collection. I did not trust him because he didn't accept PayPal.... But guess what - I travelled 8 hours to pick it up and it's really new!! And it works perfectly! :D :D

A brand new Nebula Red Alienware M18x R2. Was only upgraded once solely used as a collectors item on display.

    -3840QM
    -880M SLI
    -32GB 1600Mhz
    -4x256 GB Lite-on SSD Raid 0
-0 Scratches and no sign of any use at all.
    -Warranty till end of 2015.
-Battery has no degradation according to hwinfo64
-Genuine Windows 8.1 Pro key on the back
    -Ownership transferred to me

It cost me only €2200 (~$2600)!

I do not have any good pictures yet but here is one from my phone:

I did some Benchmarks already with Mr Fox's Driver mod. It runs butter smooth all temps in the lower 70's stock. Already did OC the CPU to 4.0Ghz on 4 cores. 10 minutes Prime95 max 80 degr. Celsius.
Could somebody tell me how good this 3DMark11 score is? My only datapoint is notebookcheck.

3dmark11 performance preset, benchmark only, stretched: 13427 points (graphics 16324)

Wow you are so damn lucky. The graphics score looks a little low, should be around 18,000 IMO judging purely by the specs of the cards.

I was suspicious too. After all he was hard to communicate with and didn't want Paypal because he apparently would not be able to use it for almost a month.
I saw his collection of all the other Alienware models including desktops too.

Also ownership was transferred to me. So nope it wasn't.

Well, that's cool. Sounds like he's a collector. I'm surprised he sold it. The M18x R2 is a legend.

He had another R2 and I didn't ask what he was going to use the money for, but I bet for the new line-up 15-17.

It's low? Hmm that sucks. I actually got a higher score than notebookcheck. Could somebody with a 880M SLI run 3dmark11? All the data I can find works with old drivers and horrible performance (12k points).

It's a legend because of it's extensive upgradability, great cooling, and excellent build quality.

    Congratulations, you've bought it cheap.

    I bought M18xR1 :

    i7-2670QM - upgraded to i7-2920XM ES for 120$
    Radeon HD6990M x2
    No HDD
    16GB RAM
    Windows 7 (upgraded to 8.1)
Seller told me that battery is not working. He gave me 240W which wasn't charging it and he had to buy me correct 330W. When i plugged it in AIDA64 showed that battery is in excellent 100% condition ;)

    for 1400$

Nice deal, it can be safer to do that sort of thing in person but I would usually meet in a public place like a cafe to be personally safe.

In the Polish dell site they still sell the 18!!! its got i7 4710, dual 880m sli, dvd blu ray, Windows 8.1.
is it that good that if you could find one you have to buy it ?
i m about to order the 15 inch one since i dont think i will be doing much upgrading myself, and i need way more portability, but you never know, i guess i got to read this 18 part of the forum more

maybe yea, but then i dont see many sites that still offer the 18 inch model, so if you want new you have to live with it probably!
italian site doesnt offer it, German does but price is the same like the Polish one
