No, I don't encounter that. I did sometimes with 7970M CF. You may need to tweak some settings to minimize that. Try to mirror these and see if it helps...

goes to show the power of the 7970m LOL

    80 to 100 fps.

performace testing on several things. after clean install of the 12.11 drivers no blue screens. no crashing. temps stay around 72 to 74 when gameing.[even on my lap with no cooler].

the only thing i cant do is overclock. it worked before the clean install but after its always stuck at zero after applying all settings in the how to fourms.
oh well clearly i dont need it. but would be nice to play with it!

hwinfo64 works wonders. doent crash my sytem, but sometimes it will crash itself. then i gotta reload it lol

What version of afterburner are you using?
Try this, adding atipldxx.dll file from the earlier afterburners such as 2.2.0 and 2.2.1 into the root install directory and it should work

Not too sure mate. I havent overclocked much for games because my screen is only 60hz anyway,
Stock clocks still blow everything away and I can hit 60fps without trouble. I'm assuming you have a 120hz monitor ???
I think 925/1350 was nice for a Mark 11 Bench I did so give that a try.

same set up as you lol
but yea it was just crysis. crysis isnt a very optimized anyway for any pc.
but every other game i tried at 980 1400 worked awesome increaseing fps by 10 or more in like skyrim and crysis 2. even tho like you said im geting 60 or more at stock lol

Good to hear things are running nice. I had thought you had been running an external 120 monitor
and 60 fps was hurting your eyes lol

Ok so im trying to solve my crossfire issues while on WOW MOP and GW2.

i just did the Registry Hack For crossfire.
    and then installed Trixx.

Uppon doing so i noticed this.

Card 1 has a different Updated Driver Version.
While Card 2 it still stuck on stock Driver.
How can i update Card 2 to match it.?

Trixx does not work properly with 7970M CrossFire. It looks like you have 6970M or 6990M, which Trixx does work with.

It looks like maybe you did not do a proper driver installation and one GPU is using a different driver than the other. In most cases it is advisable to do a clean driver installation with AMD video cards. See instructions here: AMD Clean Driver Installation Instructions.

After you have removed all of the old crud and properly reinstalled the driver you plan to use, you will need to re-do the registry tweak to disable ULPS and force CrossFire AutoLink. Any time the AMD drivers are installed it erases all of your customized registry tweaks.

Everything on max. Any driver will net you 60+ fps @ 1080p. Move to driver 12.11 betas and beyond and you can run it max on 1 card (just shy of a solid 60fps).

    Greetings!

I am interested in flashing my Alienware m18xr2's dual 7970ms with a slightly overclocked and overvolted vbios.
I understand that there are two methods of achieving this.

    1: Via Dos.
2: Via a Windows Flash Utility such as ATIWinFlash.

I have a few questions regarding options 1 and 2.

1: a.Can you flash TWO cards via the DOS method WITHOUT having to remove a single card? b.Can someone please send me a link to a DOS utility to flash the VBIOS.
2: I tried using ATIWinFlash which works well but unfortunately it can only flash the vbios of one GPU so basically I have to remove the other gpu. Is there a tool or a NON DOS method I can use to flash BOTH GPUs without removing any of my GPUs?

Yes you can flash both cards via DOS using the atiflash and a modded vbios =)

Flashing AMD video cards within Windows using ATIWinFlash is an open invitation for a bricked GPU. I strongly recommend using ATIFlash in DOS only on AMD cards. As Tazadar pointed out, you can flash both cards (not simultaneously) and there is no need to remove one of them. You have to use the correct command switch to specify which GPU is to be flashed. You flash one, then flash the other, then reboot.

So I was searching the forum for something similar to what I've been experiencing but I could not locate anything like it or maybe I failed at searching so here goes.

Occasionally I get blocks of pixels that appear to be mis-rendering, the blocks should be rendered somewhere else on the desktop, and the problem goes away if I click on the window with mis-rendering. It doesn't happen during games only when I'm just messing around with non-graphic intensive programs, it doesn't appear to be triggered by anything, the only thing I could think of is some driver issue with my catalyst drivers for one or both of the GPUs, I haven't tested the theory with only one GPU enabled.

Here is a representation of what I'm talking about: Note, this is what I did in paint to simulate what I'm talking about it, it's not an actual screenshot of it happening.
    error1.jpg

The error started after I had MSI afterburner installed, I noticed the second GPU didn't appear to be doing anything in a game, so I quit out and tried to disable and re-enable crossfire. Then I got a bluescreen, when it came back up it said I had no ATI drivers installed, so I couldn't open CCC and couldn't uninstall them. So I rebooted again, and loaded the catalyst drivers over again.

Fast forward a few days of seeing this error I decided to try a fresh install of my drivers, so I downloaded driver sweeper and CC cleaner, cleaned the drivers and the registry, rebooted and installed the 13.1 drivers that I had downloaded a few weeks earlier and windows wouldn't start with out a blue screen, so I booted safe mode with networking and it was fine except I had no video drivers. I restored to a point an hour before the cleaning and everything was fine again. I'm not sure where I went wrong with the driver cleanup, I'm not computer retarded I used to be a client administrator three years ago.

I'm going install a new SSD and a fresh install of windows this weekend. I was just wondering if anyone had run across this, I think it's a driver issue maybe even a crossfire issue because of somehow installing 13.1 cat drivers twice.

This is just for the record. Tonight I installed a Clevo HM series 7970M in my M18x-R1. I purchased it on eBay from Upgradeyourlaptop.

Some of the components on the Clevo HM GPU are sized differently (see the picture) than on the Dell counterpart, so a Clevo card cannot be used as the secondary (under the 10-key). The reason is because the modification I'm about to describe would cut directly through the heat pipes on the secondary heat sink. There is no way around this.

However, with a slight physical modification of the primary heatsink, I was able to get the Clevo card to work in the primary slot with my Dell card in the secondary slot. I didn't take any pictures of the heatsink, but it would become apparent from the included picture what you needed to remove. I used my Dremel tool. Someone posted a picture of their modded heat sink, but I can't recall where it is.

Everything was plug and play. No issues. I'm running the 13.2 beta 5 driver. Both cards run very cool. With fans forced to 100% in HWInfo, I cannot get the cards to hit 70°C, even in FurMark.

9,224 GPU in 3DMark'13 with a 900/1250 OC on both cards. 7970Ms at large do not take much of an everyday-use overclock. Reliability is yet to be determined, as the new one has only been installed for a few hours.

Please PM me if you have any questions.

FarCry 3 was 42.83 fps. This was the average of 10 60 second benchmarks in FRAPS. I was running, shooting, turning different directions, driving, etc. All out in the open, no caves or houses. All settings are at maximum. HDAO, VSync off. 80.0 field of view.

Skyrim was 104.42 fps all settings to max, VSync forced off through the .ini file. I don't recommend turning VSync off in Skyrim. There are glitches and problems with the physics.

I've seen the graphic corruption you're talking about. It wasn't exactly the same as yours though. I got rid of it the same way too...if I clicked on that part of the screen, it went away. I never ended up having a faulty GPU or anything, it just quit happening out of the blue.

Sometimes ATI drivers don't 'take'. I'm not sure why this is. You can install the dang thing 100 times and it just won't stick.

I've had it happen on single and CF setups, and again, no idea what causes it. Doing a clean installation could do nothing but good. Just make sure you install the chipset driver first, reboot, and then install the graphics driver. I'm running 13.2 beta 5 on a fresh install I did Thursday night, with no issues.

I used to have that with the 7970M CF setup I was running, and like TurbodTalon, I never figured out what the deal was. It would come and go. Are you having any issues with YouTube videos? It may not have had a direct correlation, but it seemed that when I was experiencing the issue you describe, I also had crashes some of the time when attempting to play YouTube videos. Sometimes at the start of the video, and other times only after it ran for a while.

I think it´s an hardware issue. If the M18 was teardowned he has to check all cable connections, especially the bridge-cable.

It certainly could be a hardware issue. I replaced the CrossFire bridge and even replaced both of the 7970M GPUs and still had that particular issue. It could be a driver issue as well. It's hard to say in my case since replacing the parts didn't help. It could have been a situation where all of the parts I tried were defective.

13.2 beta 5 is giving me some corruption in Black Ops II. Especially on my weapon, and also on some other random textures. It is getting some attention, so hopefully it will be fixed sooner or later. Not that Black Ops is worth anyone's time. Any game that runs at 200 fps at maximum settings was made to run on console hardware anyhow.

How do you like that 7 string man?

An update to my previous post. The 7970M I got from the eBay vendor Upgradeyourlaptop failed Friday evening. I'm just going to get a refund. I'm gunning for a single 680M, it is time for a change.

Yeah, I never even knew about an 8 string until I saw a video of Dino Cazares riffing around on one. Switching between my 6 and my 7 string is still a bit difficult. I'm an amateur guitarist though.

My 7970m's overclocks fine but I dont get any performance gain. I used 3dmark12 for testing. Before overclocking I get 10.4k and after overclocking I get the same score no matter what clocks I set. 3dmark report the correct clocks I set in AB. Im using win 7 and ccc 13.1.
    Need help :)

With that CPU you have, you can't go to high.
