I only used dispi.inf from j95 at Techinferno, no need to touch the nvdmi.inf, that was for the 355.98 drivers though.... I assume that he is still modding them for 780m
Can email you the profile if you need though

i actually need it in .nip profile, i accidentally deleted all my profiles trying to export it in .txt format...whoops

and trying to import the whole text file threw an error

i actually had to reinstall my drivers to restore all the profiles =/

I don't follow why you need the .nip, if you follow Tulius's instructions precisely everything you need for The Witcher 3 and every other game previous to the 355.98 drivers is in the text file I sent you.
Just to explain the 4th step, which is were I messed up the first time...dont import anything, you are just clearing and then creating a new (fake) witcher 3 profile for the 345.20 drivers so that you have it in the right spot/format when you export/copy/paste/import the new profile in the later steps

nvidia inspector can only import single profiles in .nip format

EDIT: well i tried several compatibility bits for dx11 Witcher 3 all of them crash almost immediately after load

I don't really have a problem with giving you .nip files but that means I have to mess around reinstalling drivers etc every time you get a new game when you can just use the .txt file method and do it yourself. Just follow the instructions rather then trying to import profiles with nvidia inspector.
If you think Dying light is having sli problems just disable sli then you will know for sure.

With so many problems of windows 10 and the throttling issue of gpus i dont think it would be a good idea to get the m8 4940mx with dual gtx 880m sli soecially since windows 10 was installed on it from windows 7.

why would you have to reinstall your drivers every time you export a .nip profile?

im not really sure what you mean because i tried importing the .txt file you sent me and it threw an error every time and i tried installing newer drivers and exporting them myself and the drivers wouldn't install so the only way i can see of doing it is through the .nip

dying light isnt running with or without SLI, even after reinstall, just black screen on startup

tried playing Attila yesterday, even with the new SLI profile settings its not running correct...GPU's are showing equal percentages but performance is awful (less than 30fps)

edit: still testing with driver installs

are people having trouble with the newer drivers? i tried playing games with the 355.98 and ran Fire Strike 2x and had no throttling issues, and the SLI support for newer games is far superior to what i was struggling with at 345.20

hitting 92c throttle in witcher on gpu2....i think my cpu OC is contributing to the gpu overheating =/

Some games just never work with sli... Attila might be one of those games, a google search should tell you if other people are struggling with sli
If that is the case just make a single gpu profile for Attila in the nvidia control panel, and see if you get better performance.

sweet you got the new drivers to install! Is witcher 3 working properly now?

Again, your gpu2 and cpu temps are not related, I have sustained 90-100C on my cpu and both my 980m's stay cool under load. they have independent cooling systems for that very reason. gpu2 has high temperatures because there is something wrong with its cooling system. Check the fan, thermal paste, and heatsink

my gpu's are both recently pasted with premium pads and liquid ultra and run identical idle temps, i do believe that the CPU heat output has an effect on GPU temps and vice versa

You must install HwInfo64 to control the second fan problem when install the GTX 980M gpu in M18X-R2. I'd the same problem when I installed the 980M SLI with temps above 92C, just follow this guide: http://imgur.com/a/UYC3s/embed#0

If your idle temps are good and equal that usually means that both your heatsinks and TIM are still ok. An excellent paste job wont help you if your fan don't spin

ran witcher 3 for hours yesterday no crashes today loading any save game crash within 30 seconds...wow

edit: removed all OC from the gpu's...still crashing...nothing was changed from yesterday except i lowered my CPU multiplier from 44 to 42...confused

edit2: well i do see what people mean about the throttling issues...my 780s are throttling in Attila at 70C or so to 400mhz for no apparent reason

edit3: has anyone ran 356.04 drivers that can comment on their performance?

There are not many who want to test new drivers from Nvidia before problems with bricked screens and Alienware laptops is resolved.

No. Nvidia has done something fishy with the latest drivers. @Mr. Fox has tested many newer drivers with the same Throttle results. Give a big thanks to Ngridia.

well downgraded to 345.20 and imported witcher profile from 356.04...no more crashes no more throttling...and working SLI, although performance seems to be noticeably worse than the newer drivers

Anyone been playing GTA V? I've noticed the core stays at 450Mhz even though SVL7's vBios keeps it at 950 standard. If I come out the game and open nVidia Inspector it goes back to 950 lol?

installed win8.1....nvidia drivers fail to install ....using UEFI and secure boot...

    edit:
The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter.

edit2: im using unlocked slv7 drivers from techinferno on the 780's if that helps

EDIT3: YOU HAVE TO TEMP/PERMANENTY DISABLE DRIVER SIGNATURE ENFORCEMENT...EVERYTHING WORKS NOW

as an aside i still cant seem to install the alienware command center

Hi mate, for future reference you have to do that any time you install any nvidia driver (other than from Dell themselves) because the INF files are altered and there's a signature which you would have come across with the install that isn't verified (but it's how we get it to install on our systems)

Also, as Mr. Fox has verified anything above 345.20 drivers cause serious throttle issues, I myself witnessed this and it crippled my game performance once 74 Degree's was hit so that's something to take into consideration (I'm using SVL7 vBios as well)

Hey guys, not sure if this should go here or not. I posted about 2 months ago that I spilled my drink on my Alienware 18. I just got it back yesterday, apparently they didnt touch the GPUs but now after reinstalling Windows 10, NVIDEO control centre does not have the option for SLI. Device Manager recognizes both are there but I'm unable to put back into SLI. Any ideas?

Very strange thing with the last Nvidia 361.43, during installation black screen and reboot normally, reallly impossible to install this drivers on my AW18 SLI 980M 8GB (purchased at woodzstack ;)) back to the 359.06 !

Convenient of late with this laptop, it's not necessary to modding drivers and neither disabled drivers signature

    Hi guys,

Recently I received an AW18 980m sli warranty replacement system, and have been playing with different drivers and vbios in attemps to attain ideal stability and performance. I'm wondering if anyone with 980m sli or just anyone more knowledgeable than myself (I'm new to the nvidia mobile scene) could give some advice. Thanks!

I got my Alienware 18 yesterday with the 980M SLI...I haven't toyed with it yet, but I'm sad to report that the ASIC quality is absolute garbage, at 68.1% and 69.3% respectively. That is the absolute lowest I've ever seen in a Dell nVidia card. For comparison, I had Dell 7970M with 78.1%, a Dell R9 M290X with 79.5%, and a Dell 680M with 82% in the past. The quality is just gone.

    Happy new year to everyone.
I would like to post this in order to help others cause i dont wont to be only beneficial from this account and site (thx again Mr.Fox and t456 for the alienware m18x r2 display recovery) and i would like to help others as i got helped.
On an Alienware m18 with win 8.1 and 780m sli configuration with stock firmware, last couple of days i tested the nvidia drivers version 361.43. Since we all know the driver issue regarding the throttle gpu ...i give it a shot. Before i was using the 344.75 version of driver - custom.
After 10 days i didnt get any throttle on second gpu and made the 3dmark test with nvidia inspector open, to see if the gpu would be downclocked. So far no problems.
Beside this, i started all my games with a fps counter to see if there are any improvements or not. The results showed me a 5-10 fps increase, but also a 3-5 grades in temperature.
You have below the 3dmark scores with the 2 versions of drivers.
Feel free to test it and post feedback but my advice is to keep saved the custom 344.75 version of the driver.

    Ok so here you go
The driver http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windo...n8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe (you can get it on nvidia.com anw)
And the modded INF in the attachment below
If you decide going to Win10, you have to use the corresponding driver and INF, however my advice is to stick with 7 for now

    Sorry for little offtop.

    My 880Ms are:
    1. 85%
    2. 82,3%
It says that my GPU quality is higher than 80% similiar GPUs in DB.

    Is this a good score?

Yeah. Nice Asic score. But high ASIC quality isn't synonym with very good overclockers. I think Nvidia push out their so called <best> chips to milk their customers to last drop. Higher Asic score mean normally lower voltage on chips with same Clockspeed. 880m is a lousy overclocker. They hoped probably lower voltage could manage higher Clockspeed. 880m is known for heavy Throttling and high maximum temperature + can't hold Turbo boost even with mod vbios. Damn Nvidia for their heavy gread!!
