what drive? a ram drive will kill any time posted by an ssd...
-
I have my doubts about that cause it will require a virtual machine to install and run Windows 7 so it will affect the performance... but theoretically it is possible
-
then let me add..."it's speculation" then...
-
its easy to make a crazy boot up. Get tinyxp (64megs os) run it on a raid0 with 2 vertex3 max iops SSD's and disable the boot animation etc.
That's cheating in my book but you can get 5s boot times like that. -
Right, thats one step away from editing the actual screen shot... lol

Thanks that will make tracking allot easier!
-
??????? How is that a tweaked bootup? Its more like a slowed down bootup from all my stock stuff still on the drive?

the screen shot made me thinks of tweaked since no aero , but will update again since its aero bug. Sorry
-
Perfect, now we need a sticky here, I think this post is really useful in streamlining bootimes. + rep for iPhantomhives

This all makes depressing reading for me!!!!!
I just have a normal 7,200 drive and my Windows takes just shy of 2 minutes to boot/become usable from pressing the power button. I do have to login screen & mcafee, respawn running too but these times are incredible. -
Yeah I have to say I am addicted to SSD's. Getting a 1.1Gig/sec on a raid 0 is so much fun. I copy a full cd from one dir to another (aprox 700mb) and the copy popup does not even show up! It just copies it instantly~
-
LMAO!! rub it in his face hahahaha !
-
ROFL sorry I did not mean it that way!
-
They are incredible... I would say adding an SSD drive will probably be the biggest upgrade you can do on just about any systems with a regular HDD. The performance increase is stupid high.... there's no other components that have such impact on performance.
-
Yeah I agree 100%
Just make sure you get a SATA3 SSD. -

Hi. I have just got a corsair force 3 SSD 120GB and a 750GB disk, installed but when on ACHI it displays the disk correctly in the BIOS but in windows the channel 0 drive shows up as the second disk.
Current config
Channel 0 - SSD
Channel 1 - 750GB
Thats the first issue.
After i run the boot timer it should 21 secs. What am i doing wrong, help. -

As far as the boot time... do you have any network drives mapped?
-
DemolitionManHD Notebook Consultant
Hi, no mapped drives. But only does this when set to ACHI.
Is there a guide for installing the OS and should i use the intel raid driver event if i am set to ACHI?
The reason i ask, is i am going to take the second drive out and bootup to see if it changes to channel 0 which the BIOS stats. -

You may also try , check in boot manager by pressing F12.
Check see if your ;
"Hard Drive" is in primary(Channel 0)
"Second Hard Drive"(Channel 1)
in order. -

Hi, checked and boot order correct. Also what would you say is better and Corsair Force 3 and a OCZ Abilgity?
Anyone have a clean windows 7 install guide for SSD? -
this should help...

Just got my beast, fresh install with crucial c300 128mb aero and all the 9.3 secs.
That's sick! -
wait, untill you install all the bloatware, lol
-
I did, my system has running at start coretemp, command center, tactx, razer mamba and nostromo softwares, and this is the timing...
I repeat, that's sick! never had a faster rig! -

I ahve reinstalled everything and can only managed a 10.7 boot time on the Corsair Force 3.
Any tips, i have a OCZ abiligy disk also but not installed what are users views on changing ssd or putting in a RAID 0? -
ONLY 10.7 boot time? Not sure what else you are looking for?
-
Like Xen said, your boot time is good. Besides unless you get a raid0 of the fastest SSD's out there you won't hit the 9 second mark.
-

funny thing i have had it down to 9.6 ish but not since. Like is said i currently have another SSD which i haave not used and was thinking either a RAID 0 or change the force 3 to the OCZ to see.
-
Just managed a 12.230sec with pretty much stock m18x + a intel 320 Series 160GB drive.
Pretty good I think for Sata 2 drive, and having not OC'd the processor. -
Really! I think mine is kinda slow.
-
The CPU OC will not help you since the bottleneck is your drive. Still a sata2 SSD is a good SSD.
-
Got 11.512 I did a fresh install and loaded all the drivers and things to make the computer factory fresh.
-
I installed couple of days ago a pair of SSD's in my new m18x and the boot-time is very disappointing, did I do something wrong?
Here is a screen from IRST manager and AS SSD:
Edit: The SSD's are Corsair Performance Pro 256GB, my signature doesn't show yetAttached Files:
