So I ordered some GPU heatsinks for my R1 off eBay and they have me a little concerned. Being that they were second hand, I'd expected some small dents and scratches. However what has me a little worried is dents in the pipes themselves and that they look a little 'squished' in some areas. It appears especially this way on the concave part of the pipes. I realize this may be a part of the manufacturing process and I'm hoping the pipes themselves aren't degraded.

Pictures are attached. I'm looking for some folks with a little more experience with heat pipes to give me an opinion.

    Thanks,

Pics are too small to see, though I wouldn't really worry as the heat doesn't care if it is going over bumps and valleys to get to the end.

Sorry I made them to small, try these. Does this look normal?

Looks normal but the proof of it is in the testing :)

Scratches are perfectly normal. The heatsinks and heatpipes are never 100% polished and smooth. Nothing to worry about.

Never seen a bent heatpipe before though. Looks like someone took a hammer and banged on it on two places

Yeah they're not supposed to bent in this manner.. I would try getting another heatsink.. This doesn't look too good..

They are bent slightly to make the heatsink line up properly.

Thanks guys, one of the fins of the left side heatsink is also broke so I'll be taking this one back. Turns out that Dell can actually sell me a new one of these :). The right side I'll keep despite the gouges as Dell didn't have this one available, and like you say, the proof will be in the testing.

    Thanks for the comments.
