    M18x landed.

    Pretty happy.

Although: Furmark burnin seams to only run properly (displaying every frame) whenin full screen mode. In windowed if starts choking a bit. Although still says its running 70FPS. As I said in full screen all is fine. Both GPUs go to 99% odd and are running at around 76-79c. Windowed benchmark seems to run fine though...

Only concern is I think there is something rattle arround in the machine. Couldnt see anything by taking the base plate off. It might be coming from the screen hinge in fact. It isnt a major rattle...but I did read of some guy with a capacitor rolling around!

Also I noticed, when I took it straight out of the box, the laptop didnt turn on when I pressed the one button.

I took battery and put it back in and nothing. Then all of a sudden pressed the button and it booted up. Done a few shutdown and and starups and it seems ok now...

    Any one have this problem?

No beeps. The system seems fine. The rattle is in the top left hand corner near the back to the left of the hinge for the screen.

BC2 runs fine at 130fps on an empty map...so I think everything is ok.

Wonder how easy it is to open her up a bit more and take a closer look.

Mine landed today. Pretty happy with the 1-week time from ordering to receiving, even though like many others the order status still said it was 'in production'. Delivery on a Saturday was very surprising as well.

As for the machine itself, it looks good and overall I'm pretty impressed. The screen isn't that great though, and I find the keyboard to be rather small and cramped, which is really something for a keyboard on such a wide surface. The keys aren't as wide as they are tall. I like the tapered keys, which was a good bit of the reason I went with an AW over everything else that has chiclet keys these days. But I still long for the earlier laptop keyboards with fully square keys that are as wide as they are tall. Eh well.

Even though the screen is about the same 9 inch height as the earlier 17.1" 16:10 screens, and wider at 16 inches, it still looks small for an 18.4". I was expecting a monster. I'm glad I went for the M18x for sure, a 17.3" would have been almost tiny.

Overall I guess it'll do for now.

LOwer the brightness and increase the contrast from the GFX control panel, makes a world of diff.

I guess it's just the E2E glass in front of the matte screen that looks washed out from certain angles in a lit room.

In the dark at screen level, even at stock settings, it looks pretty good.

But I'll still be tweaking it to make it better.
