Your base clock is set too high to achieve stability. You will end up having freezes and buzzing sounds in games, etc. Increasing base clock that high jacks up lots of other components to don't play nice with overclocking. If you want to overclock you need to invest in an XM CPU to achieve good results and stability. QM is not going to cut it.

what you advise me to do fox? which the processor that you buy? (Forget cost, think only of performance) which would have brutal performance? believe it is much more regard to this upgrade than buying a new nootbook ... what do you think? puts all the components that you buy, CPU, video cards, ram etc, remember must be compatible with the ultimate notebook (r2) HD `s etc. I have 1.5 TB but it's just going to end up buying 2 of hds 1.5 tb to do RAID 0, I thank the support = T

Based on what is currently available for installation (meaning GTX 880M might not be available for purchase yet... if you can find them, but two 880M instead of 780M).

    • Extreme CPU (3920XM or 3940XM *OEM* not ES/QS)
    • GTX 780M SLI (use NVIDIA 100W heat sinks for GTX 680M)
    • 2 SSD in RAID0 (SATA Ports 0 and 1 - 256GB or larger Samsung or Corsair Neutron)
    • 1TB HDD for data (with optional 2nd 1TB HDD in RAID0 using ODD caddy)

They are almost identical in performance. If you can get the 3940XM for the same or close to the same price, get that. If substantially higher price, go with 3920XM instead. I cannot remember on the vBIOS... too many years ago now. It's won't help, I do remember that much, as 6990M has more shaders. I used to use RBE to tweak them.

You have to purchase all of the parts in the list. Motherboard alone will not work because the daughterboard is different (R1 not compatible with R2) and the SATA cable is different as well. The triple-pipe CPU heat sink would be very useful to have even with a QM CPU. The single-pipe will not cool an XM CPU effectively.

I run 4.5ghz all the time with mine on all 4 cores with no issues. Just make sure to keep her cool 1 way or another. I can actually accomplish higher 24/7 clocks but I am still tweaking to get the best clock.

    Called directly to (800) 289-3355.

Funny you should mention out of stock. I'm on the phone now because 9D7N3 is out of stock for a week. They can ship me a GCP9C today. What will I lose and is there another part I will need to order? UPDATE: Nevermind, found Mr. Fox's explanation here. I wonder what "OBSOLETE" means in this context?

UPDATED UPDATE: All four R2 boards are Out of Stock. They have 20 R1 boards (C9XMR) in stock. I'm ordering one since I'm sitting with a totally dead laptop right now.

Good news: R1 motherboard in and running.
Bad news: Frakkin' keyboard will not light up. Any foolproof way to fix this or do I have to go through another motherboard swap?

Did you double-check the smaller keyboard ribbon cable? It might not be seated, or it may have developed a crack. I had one crack on me a while back.
