It's meant for WiDi display cards, its basically a spare MPCIE slot (x1 2.0+USB 2) and a DP lane wired to it. Most people that use it use it for a MPCIE to SATA port card for spare HDDs, or a MPCIE to USB card.

Thanks. I had a feeling it was for the mystical WiDi card.

Does anyone know if the feature is supported in the R2? I don’t think they gave it as an option when they released the M17x R4 and M18x R2 even though the port it there. It would be great to get it working

WiDi is supported afaik. In theory, might be able to put a WiGiG card and use a WiGiG dock

I think I’ll try and grab a widi card and antenna and see how it goes.

Ordered the card, antenna and a Netgear PTV3000 all for a little over $100AUD. Most of that was shipping and import duty from the US.

Not WiDi, but Wireless HD protocol made by SiBEAM. Requires the card in the DMC slot + transmitter in the LCD housing.

The slot itself is known as a DMC slot - Digital Media Card
