Here my screenshot, what i edited in the ini file :
fShadowDistance=2000.0000
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
fdefaultfov=90
iPresentInterval=0
![]()
if you simply want to remove shaking shadow > edit these line : if the sharpness is too high set it to 1 or 2
(still the fshadowdistance at 2000 is much better imo the tree's shadow movement is much better)
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0
iShadowMaskQuarter=0
if you wanted even better performance try download this and put it into your skyrim root folder. (remember to edit your ini again because it will reset your setting after this especially the iPresentInterval)
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=123#content
and remember to download the right dll, if you have ATI look for it at the bottom of his post.

Does anyone have blocky black fire? It is my only complaint performance wise. If something sets me on fire or casts fire at me it is black and block and looks pretty lame.
-
Seems like my performance remains the same either with single/SLI configurations, probably new drivers will solve the issue.
Single GPU usage is around 96%, when in SLI - 60% tops for both cards. -
-
In Radeon Pro: Advance>Enable surface format optimization, turn that off. That worked for me.
PLease remove double post.

In Radeon Pro: Advanced: Enable surface format optimization turn that off. Fixed it for me -
I was finally able to get crossfire support on Skyrim after renaming the exe file (not the launcher) to "Fallout3.exe"

Finally ... This is what I ended up with after a lot of editing/testing. Save someone else some grief.

Running happily in the 50+FPS range on a single 6990 here (CF disabled). Everything is max. 11.9

My interesting findings in Skyrim after upgrading then downgrading from 11.11 Cap1 to 11.10 with no Cap.
Here's my post on the other thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/8077973-post40.html
I'd be interested to see if others can duplicate this.
Also, I am not running any modified files or radeonpro. -
-
did you add SkyrimLauncher.exe and applied it there? -
how well does the game run on your rig?
-
Putting the ATIUMDAG.DLL in my Steamworks/common/skyrim folder improved my FPS from 15-25 to around 50-65 with many .ini tweaks/enhancements. Fix works for desktop cfx configs as well.
AMD really, incredibly borked up with support for THE title of the year. And they still don't have an official fix almost a week after release (although I suspect the code has been available for months for them to test with). -
80% of the time while in the open it runs at 55-60fps. -
-
-
-
L. A. Noire uses only 50% of both GPU's, Skyrim 50-96%... those two need improvement, probably with the new set of drivers in the future) -
-
i just can't notice a lot of performance difference using single and SLI configurations and using msi afterburner to check in-game fps doesn't with this title anymore. could be driver related, dunno...
you said, you're using 285.75, did you mean 285.79? -
-

So just drop that DLL into the root Skyrim directory? Okee doke...
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned here, I'm a little too lazy to look through 8 pages of forum to double check, but I renamed my Skyrim executable to Fallout3.exe and my crossfire performance on my 6990m's has increased significantly.
I recommend everyone give it a try until those CAP's come out, whenever the heck that might be.
Edit: Keep in mind you have to launch the renamed .exe directly, and not run the game through the launcher. -
-
Rename that to Fallout3.exe and just run the game through there. Don't rename the folder or it may not work, just rename the executable.
Also, make a copy of the original. Just in case.
Edit: The location of that file is (for me using a default install) C:\[Where your steam is installed]\steamapps\common\skyrim -

Sorry, i couldnt bare 8 pages just to find out, but has any one suggested the Large Address Aware Enabler? This fixed a TON of issues for me.
Also, what seemed to work real well for me was using Radeon Pro, and the Rage Crossfire profile. Nothing else really changed, turned down that unnecessarily high AA to around x2 or x4 (high res screens dont need x16,000 AA)
I cruise anywhere between 35-60 fps, sometimes in rare cases it'll dip to around 20, but i usually dont notice. One thing i DO notice, is in some environments, usually in caves and i dont know why, but when the FPS drops below 50, it starts micro stuttering. Again, even more confusing, is that alt tabbing out and back in seems to fix it? Go figure. -
hi all,
ive recently purchased skyrim, however the game keeps shutting without any form of error report. i checked and found that the crossfire might have something to do with it, however i was not able to open the catalyst control centre (i clicked the icon, it loaded for a second and gave no response after that). i wiped the drivers with driver sweep and installed drivers from the amd website, however after i install i keep getting BSOD.
does anyone know the most stable driver for my laptop, my specs are in my sig
thanks -

Just to say it's been tried, I would unplug the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then plug it back in and reset the bios to optimal default with AHCI mode enabled. I use to have weird problems with AMD drivers that would require a bios reset.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/11-10_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe
Works ok. -
i tried that. it didnt even finish installing before i got BSOD. Is it something wrong with my laptop or is it the drivers?

Anyone run Skyrim on the solo 460m yet ? Just curious. Was thinking of buyin it. my specs are in my sig. I play RAGE and BF3 great if that helps.
-
Try the mobile drivers instead of the desktop ones.
As for skyrim crashing I use the Large Address Aware(LAA) Fix from skyrimnexus. The patch from steam yesterday disables it but I had a backup of my old executable before the steam patch, just reinstated the old "TESV.exe" + LAA patch. Was working fine last nite, as a side note it also stops the launcher if you just run "TESV.exe" instead of the steam launcher (I like the ability to play it when I'm not online). -

It looks like the 11.10 from hardwareheaven.com is working good for some people.
Hope this helps anyone having problems with the amd drivers! Let me know how it goes -
damn, It looks like the link provided got updated to the 11.11 buggy drivers. I been looking for the 11.10 from hardwareheaven.com but no luck.

I current have 11.10 WHQL drivers with 11.9 Cap 4.. and skyrim is just unplayable for me. dipping from 60~35 with cfx not working while using radeon pro.. Any suggestions? Aren't these gpus supposed to be able to handle ultra settings at a reasonable, stable 60~80 fps while cfx? Any suggestions on which drivers and Caps I should be using would be appreciated.. For now Skyrim is unplayable

Open Catalyst Control Center
Go to Gaming -> 3D Application Settings
Uncheck (disable) 'Enable Surface Format optimization' under Catalyst A.I. -
I agree with you though, when CFX starts working in Skyrim we should get awesome performance. Currently (11.11 with cap2) I get much better performance with one card, than with 2. With just one card I can actually crank up the settings more and still get much higher frame rate. I just hate to have to enable and disable all the time. Alien vs Predator, BF3 and Dirt 3 all use CFX perfectly, and I use Dirt 3 & Alien vs Predator in eyefinity as well. -
Can you share how you got to install 11.11 drivers? Me and alot of people (from what i gather) have problems installing this driver with BSODS.
thanks in advance -
eek
, last time I was here the 580's were having throttling issues but never heard about any probs with the reds.
I loaded the 11.11's right when they became available, upgraded from 11.9 cap 4 I beleive. I downloaded from AMD directly, the full download about 90MB. I just installed them and also the cap 2 that came out a few days later and never had any problem (forgot to do a clean install, althought I have to admit I'm not a big beleiver in it anyway).
I can't say that I noticed any change in performance in anything. The biggest thing I was looking for was a fix for Skyrim CFX. All the other games I play were already running great on the 11.9's. -
Thank you. Definitely going to give that a try until AMD does something about this..

You guys probably know this already but patch 1.2 should be available now for PC according to this article:

I noticed a blocky smoke issue after I installed the Better Smoke and Embers mod. Removed it and haven't seen the issue since.
I have SFO enabled. 11.10 drivers, forced CF with RadeonPro. -
Does anyone have a list of optimizations to set in Radeon Pro for Skyrim? Like a "here's what I configured on each page"? Just curious to see if there's concensus on what the correct tweaks to set are for this excellent game.
