Good morning,
I don't know what they did, I attach the pictures for that but after back from Dell, my M18x is not longer working. Anytimes I try to install the ATi drivers it freezes.
Accordint to them they changes one of the ATi cards.
Please check the pictures.
What's the negative values?
There's any way to swap to the integrated graphic card? As far as I read if I don't install the ATi driver, the fn+F7 function doesn't work.
Regards,

The Pics don't really help... First off check with the basics have you checked device manager to make sure both cards are shown , if they are ok , have you removed any previous installation of drivers ? , if you have old drivers I think maybe best that you remove using DDU or something like that which you can get from guru3d , it will need to be in a safe mode environment but will do that automatically when the program runs , when all removed I always run ccleaner to clear out any old registry's , then try and reinstall drivers and make sure you have the right ones for mobile the latest are 14.12 omega , make sure you have no overclock etc as that can hinder driver installation , and for the time being don't worry about the intel hd3000 get your main cards sorted first ...and those pics don't really say a lot you always get wrong clocks and memory speeds especially in crossfire..is it running in vga mode at present ie low res ?

first of all thanks for the kindness of your reply.
The card are displayed are generic adapter, I cannot install the ATi's driver as when I am doing that the system freezes. Windows via Windows Update identify both the adapters but when it try to install the driver the procedure stops with an error code.
The system is using the default setting and... does it is a way to switch the system to the integrated card at that status? The Fn+F7 key doesn't work.
Cheers, -
No problem , so are you using the windows update to install drivers for your cards ?, did you check under installed programs to see if there is any ati/ amd installation there , if there is you need to click on it and unistall any reference to ati / amd ..and never use windows update to install drivers for your ati card , you need to search for amd 14.12 whql mobile drivers in google for whatever win version you are using either win8 or win 7 but mobile will be part of the title or just go to amd drivers and put in the required info ie operating system , either notebook or desktop obviously the notebook version and model for yours which would be the hd6000 drivers and download and install them , they are around 285 mb , i cant give you a link as my pc is not with me , so first thing make sure there is no drivers installed at present if there is uinstall them , reboot and install the new drivers you downloaded and then go from there , but i can not stress enough that you need to
check there isnt any older drivers installed already.... -
once again, thanks.
As first think I run the DUU and rebooted the system. After that I run the ATI's setup driver with the latest certified version. When it was installing the driver, it asked me to confirm the gpu manufacturer (ATi): I did it and after a few of seconds I heard the windows' sound about new device found (the GPU). After less then 1 minute the system.... freezed on "Currently installing the AMD Display Driver". -
Well if you can't install drivers well the cards are dead.. Call them up and you probably need to send it to repair again..

Hi just quickly , check under device manager and check both cards are displayed under the display tab , if there are yellow exclamations right click and unistall any driver loaded , reboot and they should be detected as vga cards and boot in low res vga , if its asking for device id maybe you are using the desktop version of the drivers , what version of windows are you using ?, and will send you the correct link to be sure you are using the correct driver definately sounds if there is a conflict somewhere and maybe windows are detecting them wrongly hence why i said check under device manager , you could extract the drivers in a folder and install them through that , dont let windows auto install , choose manual and direct to the folder you extracted the drivers too and do that through device manager right clicking the same way as if you want to remove drivers , and if all ok then just reinstall the same drivers the normal way , but like i said give me your windows version and will post a link to the correct drivers ....

Good afternoon,
thanks, I confirm one of the ATi is dead: I disabled it by Windows and the system now works. Dell.......................... -

The big (BIG) problem is I am in Qatar and I should send it back in Italy... and I can assure you it is far from something easy.
Which one should be for you the best upgrade I could get? -
Wow!
You still have working HD6990M? You're one of last users because this cards died in every EVERY laptop without a cause. In mine two of them died with a year period. Im surprised that your one last that long.
And one advice for me when buying new GPU/ new laptop = NVIDIA
And yes I know that this is old thread but if someone reads it then he should know about this 6990M crapMr. Fox likes this. -
I was pretty lucky as well. I had the 6990m in sli and that lasted me the life of the laptop(4years). It's just within the last month that they decided to shut down.luckily I still have warranty but now i'm going through the ordeal of parts. Problem is they changed my motherboard and all went to hell after that. Just sent it to an express depot today to see if I luckout and they find a compatible mother board. If not i'm stuck with a refund.
