When i use HDMI Input from another computer, be it my PC with a gtx 1060, or my alienware 15r2, or even a loop of its own screen (hdmi out into hdmi in) it looks washed out. it looks worse than the natural screen by a decent amount.
Yet when i hook up a console, like an Xbox one, or Xbox 360, it looks amazing.
(also i cant get hdmi in audio to work on windows 10)

Are all of the computers running an nvidia graphics card? Go into the nvidia control panel of the secondary PC>Change Resolution>Make sure Output Dynamic Range is set to Full
I'm not sure about the HDMI audio IN...I won't have my M18x for a week or two but try these audio drivers:
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00875675M/4/Audio_IDT_W8_X02_A00_Setup-CGH70_ZPE.exe -
Yep, desktop has a gtx 1060, other laptop has a gtx 965m, and this beast has dual 460m's. I tried output dynamic range from limited to full, didnt seem to make much difference.
Also, got this error whilst attempting to install those drivers. http://imgur.com/2GLm8Np
(I know when i had Win 7 installed i was using IDT drivers) -
Set compatibility to Windows 7 and it will run. Im using them on Win10 RS1. You won't get audio without them.

I was finally able to get the hdmi in to work, but this driver won't install on mine. It says: The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. Should I have something else installed first?
-
Damn I wish I had my M18x with me. Currently it's at HIDEvolution for 7 beeps...
Okay try this..
1) Turn off internet of all sorts
2) Go to device manager and completely uninstall the audio driver (IDT not the nvidia ones)
3) Reboot, try installing the IDT drivers using Windows 7 compatibility mode -

Sorry about your computer having problems and thanks for trying to help. I can't find anything related to IDT there.
-
Isn't it M18xR2? R1 had IDT, R2 had bugged SoundBlaster

Which GPUs are you running in your M18x "V2"Rotary Heart likes this. -

Nice! I kinda wish I went for R2 instead of R1 now. R2 motherboards are expensive.
So you just swapped out the motherboard for R2? Everything else was the same? -
Rotary Heart Notebook Evangelist
You only need the motherboard and the daughter IO board. There are a couple of cheap ones on eBay. -
Maybe I will put 1060 in future after upgrade too. Glad you got it working
You can also check that - http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...ture-using-console-gimx.791116/#post-10248473 -

What are the part numbers for those parts? -
I actually dont have anything IDT in mine either, but i know for sure its an R1. (I do wish to upgrade to an R2 motherboard and get a 1060 or 1070 in it, because thats a crazy upgrade ^.^ (Im guessing it wont be vr compatable because of the lack of newer hdmi ports?))
Also changing the video setting from limited to full did help. its still darker than the panel is running an xbox or just its own screen, but thats okay. atleast it looks better. -

Yep, i had gotten this error

Okay when I receive my M18x back (probably next week) I'll take a look.
-
DId you ever get a chance to take a look?
-
Sent it in on 7/11. -
that sucks. currently my m18x's hard drives is being weird, (only seeing one in top slot, probably the little sata board or something) but also its taking longer to post, (before option to enter bios, little white line flashes in top left corner for abit) which is unusual, but i think that could be due to the sata issue.
by the way, i had a question, in your M18x description, it says you have a 80Hz display, how did you get about getting one of those? -
Except I have overclocked my display. Mine is stable up to 85hz so I set it to 80hz for some games and of course it's 60hz for everything else.
My friend's 18 can do 110hz LOL. Each display is different.
To do so, you need to be on the nVidia cards not iGPU. Open up nVidia control panel>change resolution>customize>change refresh rate up top slowly.
(I would try 75hz>80hz>85hz>90hz>95hz>100hz>110hz>120hz try in that order. If it fails just wait 15 seconds for it to revert back. I use the setting right below the most stable(if 85hz was stable, I use 80hz) to be extra safe.
it is overclocking, so same rules apply when overclocking anything else.

ooh
ima check that out as soon as i fix my hard drive caddy
thank you
