Hi all, i'm planing to get this card, but around i can find those just pulled off from MSI GT 72 VR
and i guess that them all are gsync variants.
that would be a code 43 in aw18? it's possible flash an non gsync vbios?
    thanks!

You have to be careful trying to flash a non g-sync vBIOS on a g-sync card as it could cause a brick.
Saying that, when I tried to install the 1070 in my M18x I was met with a Code 43 when I tried installing a driver. When I used GPU-Z without a driver I could get the vBIOS version and I found that there was a g-sync vBIOS flashed even though the card was non g-sync. Flashing the correct vBIOS fixed my Code 43 so it is technically possible. I wouldn't want to tell you that it works 100% of the time though.
This thread may help, I haven't read through all the pages though

Sure, but that code was related that your gpu wasn’t an gsync module, but it had wrote an vbios with gsync, so pretty normal to have issues with that. But I mean another thing. Let’s say that gpu has normal it has gsync. I know that it wouldn’t work with internal display either in Alienware 17 because it does work just in gsync screens. BUT some body knows if it would be working in SG ?

@tomx thank you for the pm

My first Gtx 1070 in my alienware 18 was 1BE1 hence it was gsync and ran perfectly fine. I ended up destroying that card by punching my aw 18 due to some rage in a certain game and it shattered the gpu die. I left craters in the keyboard, the chassis looks rugged but trust me it is weak, if I did that to a clevo it would take it with no damage :D not that I would do that nowdays....

Anyways I replaced the keyboard, palmrest, cpu fan and gpu fan and bought a non gsync card which did in fact work perfectly fine too. I did run these cards in SG mode with an unlocked bios to force this option. Otherwise you will get beeps indicating video card failure or display out failure...

There is no problem that I know off which stops a g sync card working in the aw18 otherwise I would have mentioned this on the thread. Try a later g sync vbios on the card. If you have a SPI flasher handy that would be very useful as you can manually flash the vbios chip...
