Is there a way to get manual fan controls on the R9 M290X? In HW Info there are no options for GPU fans and in MSI afterburner they are greyed out.

    Anyone else have this problem?

What model system do you have? Is it single or CrossFire?

In HWiNFO64, right-click the system tray icon, go into settings and be sure SW SMI (1) is enabled. Click the fan icon (2) on the sensors table and then you should see the fan control panel (3).

I have Alienware 18 with crossfire.

I'm not by the laptop at the moment however I do have access to that fan control but I don't have sliders for the GPU's. When I'm benching I crank the CPU fan on there.
When I do that though, my GPU fans are not automatic any more and my temps rise.

I believe the Fan1 slider is for the CPU and Fan2 controls both GPU fans. Fan3 is greyed out.

Do you have SW SMI enabled like in the photo I posted? If you do not, this is what happens if that box is not checked. SW SMI has to be checked for fans 2 and 3 sliders to be enabled for the GPUs on an Alienware 18. On the M18xR1/R2 one slider controls all three fans simultaneously.

I was wondering about that too as I had the same issue. So the 2nd and 3rd sliders are the gpu? What should they be set at? Are there certain values to start at and then increments to increase from there?

I actually mistakenly clicked "set manual" on the first slider and noticed my temps shooting up with no fans running. Freaked me out for a minute till I realized what was going on. I wish there was a way to see what the auto settings are at and then adjust from there.

Yes, for the Alienware 18 the middle and bottom sliders are the left and right GPUs.

To use manual fan control, drag the slider to the spot you want it and then click "Set Manual" to force that fan speed. To revert back to the system EC control, click "System Auto" and you're good to go.

Clicking "Custom Auto" will give you a table where you can choose what temps to use as triggers for fan speeds. When you first open the Custom Auto button it will show what is hard-coded in the EC. Just overtype the values with what you want for temps. You will be limited to the fan speeds listed. No other options for fan RPM are possible unless you enable the "EC Support" checkbox, which gives infinite fan control. It also introduces issues with stability and DPC latency, so I recommend leaving that box unchecked.

If you look through the album posted above there are header/foot descriptions that may be helpful.

    Thank you so much!

Copied your settings and I now have all 3 sliders!
