    Hello!
I'm french and I need an advice please:
    I've got an old (but totally new) M18XR2 with a i7-3940XM (just received)and a crossfire of 7970M ,

I would like to upgrade it to 32GB memory (actually, I have 4GB+2GB little modules at 1600Mhz).
I know there's 4 memory bank modules in this laptop.
What's the best memory upgrade to mount in it? I read that Corsair Vengeance 1866Mhz wasn't a really good choice....

Thanks very much for your help,
    Best regards from France.

    Any 32GB (4x8GB) 1600MHZ DDR3L kit will work fine.

1866Mhz and 2133Mhz modules can work too but unless you find them cheaper, it's better to just go for 1600Mhz kits.

Thanks but with an overclock of the 3940XM, what would be the best choice?

Does the M18X R2 support 2x16GB kits or only 4x8GB kits?

No one has ever tested 2x16GB kits in the M18xR2. At the time they were not available until now.

You would be a brave soul if you tried it but if you are going to try it I highly recommend buying from a reseller that has good return policy.

I don't think they will boot but you never know. [Make sure you are on the A11 unlocked BIOS, it may help]

4x8GB works fine. Overclock will not affect which RAM you can use. 1600/1866/2133 whichever you can find cheaper is fine. If I can do it all over, i'd go with 2133Mhz or at least 1866Mhz for a slight performance increase.

Ok Thanks very much and so, if you have the money, which 4x8GB kit would you choose in 1866Mhz or 2133Mhz? :)

I just learned today that the M18x supported DDR3L memory.....D'oh!

Is 2133 plug and play or would I have to mess with things in the BIOS?

I wondered that too, and am pondering getting 2x16GB sticks, so if anyone has done this would be great to hear it!

I have 2 x 8gb 1866 in the drawer so I'll just throw these in when I put it all back together. 2133MHz DDR3L is crazy expensive down here and the extra gain would be minimal.
