To all you ATI GPU M18x owners. Just purchased the brand spanking new Alien Rage over at Steam and I am happy to say it is extremely well scaled for Crossfire using the Unreal engine. With all details on max my M18x R1 with dual 6990Ms cranks it out almost perfectly at 60FPS with a few dips here and there down to 39FPS. So the game is really pushing the Unreal engine with a lot of graphic tricks. This is a straight up old school first person shooter with gorgeous graphics and a weak plot line and only 20 bucks, but tons of fun. My favorite. :) Just thought I would drop a note about it. Bye.

P.S. - Head shots are most satisfying with lots of alien ooze coming out of their neck stumps. MMMmmmm.... tasty.

I like a good thread that actually talks about gaming which is why we all started loving PC's in the first place :D Also glad to hear the R1 is still a solid performer!

That is my favorite kind of game as well. I'm excited after reading your post and plan to check it out right now.

    Amen to that!

Now that I have been getting deeper into this game I have hit some large expansive areas that drop my framerate down to almost 18FPS at short intervals. I have noticed a patch was pushed through Steam today and here is a tweak guide that is supposed to help quite a bit. Playing on hard and man do I die a lot.

[GUIDE] How to improve performance, change SP FoV and fix mouse lag :: Alien Rage - Unlimited General Discussions

UPDATE: The tweak guide, I have found, tends to crash the game a bit, but the dev has released two updates via Steam addressing the framerate issue and I can say the game runs great now without having to tweak it. Very responsive dev support.

Each to their own. Having a great time with the game. Metacritic is a great resource if you stick with the user reviews and ignore the critic reviews.

When it comes to games and movie entertainment, I frequently go with that the critics hate and love it.

I thought Hard Reset was an extremely fun and satisfying fps game. Great visuals as well.

Never ever trust Metacritic user reviews. 90% of user reviews are trolls that never played the game and developers have been know to hire people to make accounts and boost scores. Here's a perfect example of trolls...

Gone Home for PC Reviews - Metacritic

Almost 700 people (trolls) "reviewed" it. To put that into perspective a game that (literally) sold 100x better only has 79 user reviews...

Rayman Legends for Xbox 360 Reviews - Metacritic

It's also well known that EA hired people and used bots to boost Metacritic user reviews and they even admitted to doing so. Critic reviews are far better to go by.

At this point I would like to recommend Alien Versus Predator to you guys, you can get it for 6Bucks at certain key-stores.
This game does also have the Unreal Engine and anyone who played the original AvP will love it. - Being a Predator was never this much fun before. :D
If anyone gets this game, add me to steam.

Ps. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/02/alien-rage-review According to IGN this isnt really an old school shooter after all.

    Cheers
