    :p
    after tomorrow...

but I can't touch you in vantage ... maybe if we tried I could break 30K ... but no where near you :)

But I could come back and try for some 3dmark11s :)

getting a little farther John don't feel lonely

John didn't you get 5.076 secs or am i imagining things?

I got various frequencies 8thread core states off to work like 4920 8thread (much closer to 100 baseclock than the pic above) and it ran optimally but was with lower baseclock and scored a little worse... but was stable at a lower voltage interestingly...

    Very nice 3dmark2011 runs wow...

maybe I should break 30K just to establish that both Reds and greens in the alienware m18x break 30k ? :)

I guess thats kind of a milestone. I am honestly just so god damned impressed with your work on the 580s man. its really, really, awesome.

Shaden go for it whats the most anyones done for 6970m's guys is 29k or 28k a good goal for 6970m's not sure what top 6970m bench has been can you guys point me to score board lol... if there even is one? If somone overvolts AMD would be close to equal... SVL7 overvolted his 6970M... takes some soldering and adjusting.

also I am still considering an overvolt ... my roomie is an electical engineering student ... and he and I have looked at SVL7's mod and we think we can replicate with a constant voltage mod instead of one required an external monitor ...

But ... i need cash enough in the bank to put in 2 new cards incase we screw it up ... and my (new) wife just decided we should take a vacation in February ... lol damn it ! Tech > vacation ! ... she does not understand.

But again, she did buy me my m18x :)

i know you bench must be 20 comps a week lol i have all the time in the world because i'm curious.. I didn't take a week to get those results but was busy with life lol. I don't have access to the amount of comps you do. Your more of a extreme cooling man anyway... if your gonna bother you'll go all out and mount a dice pot over the chip. Thanks for letting me know though... so far don't think 5ghz 8thread at wprime 32m cpu load is possible. I've ran 4925 the whole 32m run too but at lower baseclock.... my mobo doesn't take over 105.13 in bios. So I cant try your 105.4 ish so instead i had to use lowe bclk and a step up on the multiplier...

go ahead Shaden lend John your 6990's for a run or two lol. Yeah the mod works and would be easier if you do it like that and I may do the same but SVL7 does warn that the base voltage from where he is modding from can be higher or lower from card to card and may not be as close to the values of his example... just keep that in mind to... that's why he measures in the first place... it worked well alowing a 1.2v run but i would use 1.15 to get to 900-1000mhz ranges on core...

yea yea ... we are looking at adding only .05 ... we figure that will be stable. heat is not an issue. I can max at 870/1190 at room temps of 70+ ... on cooling 870/1210 with max gpu temps about 65 ...

So some voltage should be awesome. and .05 v should be able to rock ... as you say, over 900 core ... :)

ok ... really bed time :) back tomorrow for check ins

all chips are not the same...so what works for me might not work for you.
and so far, i haven't did any extreme anything. just used some cold air and that's it. this setup may not need any dice or ln2 to max out.

i should be around this weekend as well shaden..

and that voltage mod will more than likely need a few mods...but really not worth it. look at that guy in the clevo thread...for all that modding and can't break 32k gpu.

Yeah exactly and I know heat isn't an issue i have more room to go but not enough voltage lol... well you'll have to post the piece you use as I may do that then since only .05v added is low enough to not matter if the base volts are a little higher than 1.1v...

I was talking about your HwBot work lol you definately have extreme cooling lol... as for the M18x I was joking I already know your cooling situation and max specs thus far... you mentioned your es 2920 got 5ghz but this 2960 oem of yours has 4.8-4.9ghz max. I know all chips are different. I meant if you were gonna spend as much time as me playing with the same benches you'd be breaking records with dice on it... see what i mean lol you just wouldn't bother because its above you as you have more important time to spend on 2600k, 990x etc etc.... the volt mod could add 10% in performance... but it will only get you so far so if its worh it is on a per person basis and i would say not breaking 32k is most likely what will happen as you say...

see you guys over the weekend

yeah, but this chip is far stronger than the 2920 es version...so is the oem 2920xm as well. so for all sakes and purposes...these chips are pretty much the same in specs. would have loved to find a 5.1 ghz chip...but...hey...can't win them all. haha. im just glad i have a 4.8+ ghz bench stable chip. i make hit it with dice one time real quick to see if it makes a difference.... because i want to be sure that it's giving it's all...but that may be some time down the road.

Hey John, CPU usage on 8 threads for BF3 ranged from 70-80% on my 2720. The graphs showed relatively consistent usage of all cores. The game runs flawlessly on 6970s.

On another note; I have a good deal on 6990s and am really torn on it being worth the extra shaders for Crysis2 and Metro2033 (though that runs damn well also). I think earlier in another thread I tested the benchmark against someone with a 6990 setup and the difference was 2FPS. So now it is looking like Crysis2 is the only game my 6970s suck at (20-25fps) a lot of the time on Ultra. OC doesn't even make much of a difference.

So do I scrap the 6990s and WAIT (who knows how long) for the 7 series or do I keep the upgrade for future games that may use the extra shaders?

so it looks like bf3 is definitely working out the cpu as well.

    question...
how much more will it cost to upgrade?
every one is waiting on the 7 series.(wether buying or just looking. :D - so your good there)

and ill load up crysis 2 as well and see how my game play is with that. i couldn't get it to run right when i had my 6990's, but that was due to user error on my part im sure!.

i was get 50 to 70 on crysis 1 though and it benched 62 fps

John, the upgrade with a LOT of discounts is 850 after taxes and free installation (been stalled so many times now). I can keep my 6970s and sell them. So I guess the "cost" is up to selling the 6970s and how much they go for. My guess is around a 200 dollar upgrade.

Now Crysis 1 runs like a dream sans the last level but I doubt any card runs that as it's just purely bad coding. Crysis Warhead again; beautiful. Crysis II just runs literally in the 20s a lot of the game. The 6970 and 6990 seem to bench very very close in many games that I can only think the shader count really came into play with C2. I dunno....and I still don't know if I should upgrade. I think I will. I have been meaning to regrease with my Diamond and will do so after I OPEN UP my computer for the dell technician lol....This beast is way more finicky than my old R2 920xm.

What are you guys doing to get over 8000 on 3dmark 11? I have my gpu's overclocked to 820/1020 and the cpu set to overclock level 3 in the bios yet the most I can get is 7217. Am I missing something?

A 7200 score is typical and a great one for your settings without tweaking Windows. To do better, disable all unnecessary services, including fetching and indexing. Turn off all autorun programs in the MSCONFIG startup tab. Shut off your antivirus program, switch over to Windows Classic theme and in CCC uncheck all AMD "enhancements" and move all sliders to the left. This should put you in the 8000 range or beyond.

    no. no need too.
cards will do about 885/1225 on that voltage...but they need to be below 50C under load for that to happen.

first off...using furmark is now frowned upon....as far as amd/nvidia are concerned.

second...you would need something to keep your gpus cool. and in any case...this is only for numbers and not an every day use thing.

I think too much current is even worse than too little same as with voltage. You should find the min necessary proportions to keep the required speed under full load. For me its somewhere around 900. Even slightly less. Rock solid 4.5ghz if ambient is below 65f and elevated back.lol

means you need to start adding flex or amps
means you need to start adding flex or amps
are you using the newest hwinfo? anf i really dont even use it that much anymore...due to stuttering and drop outs.
use the 950 and add like 5 flex to see if it runs more efficient. and these bsod have an error code...need to keep an eye on this. this tells you what you need to add.

what kind of scores you getting now?
