This game is just a blast... It requires little horsepower to run very well and will most likely run smoothly on weak laptops. Graphics are not fantastic, but it's so much fun that I don't really care. I like the music, too.

Anyone have any tips for Farcry 3?
That game always crashes. I've been trying to get through a coop game with a buddy and it's always crashing at some point. I've tried under clocking, single GPU...
Everything.
Then game's still a broken mess after all this time. -

I am on 331.93.
Also, I have found that HBAO looks a little bit better than SSAO and to not set MSAA to x4 as unless youre at a higher resolution display, at 1920x1080 there is no discernible difference, 2x MSAA is adequate at this resolution.
I play mostly at 4.2 Ghz with Flex VID at 12. (44,44,43,42). It might be time for a repaste, I am considering the coolaboratory stuff, are you using it? -
Thanks for your response brother Vulcan. I found a working solutions. Following these suggestions seemed to fix things. I'm pretty sure the culprit was my OSD's.

Here is one to watch. If they work out the final kinks it will be great. Still a terrible shame there is no offline campaign mode.

If anyone here is enjoying Titanfall as I know I am I have a few tips to help improve the smoothness of the game:
1. Enable "adaptive v-sync" in Nvidia Control Panel and disable v-sync in game, you will occasionally get horizontal tearing but it is infinitely better than the stutter should you remain with conventional v-sync. There is no SLI profile for this game so there is quite a load on your primary GPU which results in a bit of stutter as if youre like me you will want to max out every graphical option available, which brings me to the next tip.
2. Max everything out if you have 680M or newer, preferably overclocked (+225 core/ +450 memory @ 1.025 V and I still get GPU related frame drops and stutter) EXCEPT texture quality which should be no greater than "Very High". Respawn is quite clear that you will need 3GB of VRAM to run "Insane" texture quality and they are not kidding around, I have played with this setting on "Insane" and there was moderate to severe stutter.
These are the two most popular tips that can also be gleaned from sources elsewhere on the web. We are all waiting patiently for Nvidia to come up with an SLI Titanfall driver but even then I don't believe those with anything less than 780M with its 4GB of VRAM will be able to enjoy the best texture quality. Kinda sad really, 680M is only a few years old and Titanfall may be the first among a wave of new games that suggest that 2GB of VRAM is inadequate.
But it is still good to be a PC gamer! Those with an XBone are stuck with no more than 792p and 30 FPS! This is the XBone were talking about not the XBox 360!
Oh and if youre OC'd this game will give your primary a workout, mine hit 74 C at some point during the 3-4 hours I enjoyed last night. This was with the fans manually set at 3700 RPM, system elevated, and a fresh application of Coolaboratory Liquid Ultra. If you feel inclined, please post the temps you see on your primary GPU, overclocked or not, for comparison purposes.
If anyone else has any other Titanfall tips they would like to share, technical or gameplay wise, please do. -
Thanks for the tips brother Vulcan. Also thanks for the FC3 mod tips.. I'll try them out. Do you know if there are extra multiplayer coop maps for download ?
It's hard to believe Titan will use more than 2gig VRAM but I guess it's inevitable sooner or later.
I might get it when it's around $20. Since I mainly have my little beast hooked up to the TV I can't make good use of a k/m to stand a chance, so getting my a$$ handed to me in competitive online games using a pad isn't too much fun. Normally I'll just play coop FPS games, racing games or single players these days.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Not sure if the final release is the same as beta, but using AFR2 helped offset the lack of an SLI profile. I hope they fixed a few things in the final release version, but it is an awesome game. Both GPUs functioned around 50-60% using AFR2... performance was the same with more of a shared load (which may mean lower temps). You might want to give that a try if you haven't already done so. Below is some information I had posted in the Alienware Gaming Video thread that might be useful here.
Mr. Fox said: ↑Dang, glad I did not pay for Titanfall. I got into the beta and while it is lots of fun to play the coding is a piece of crap. Hopefully, they will make this better before people start buying it. I would not be happy paying $60 for this. If, in fact, I decide to purchase this it will need to be around $20. Still don't like the fact that it is online only, with no campaign mode.
Found this: Titanfall Crash Fixes: Locked Framerate, Screen Flickering, Tearing, & Mouse Lag
Mr. Fox said: ↑Well, I am assuming my system is patched to the latest since it was just freshly downloaded. If you do not measure anything and run with default settings it seems like everything is A-OK. It is not until you start poking around behind the scenes that the game looks more like a piece of crap. For the average gamer that does not do anything but launch and run, it might be good. It seems obvious to me that it's another poorly coded work from EA/Origin. It has many of the issues that BF4 did without a ton of tweaking to make it work better. I am also still miffed about no campaign. If their servers do not perform well it is going to suck, and there is something that always strikes me as a rip-off when I cannot play a game offline in campaign mode. It's good in beta in that regard, but they don't have much user overhead... yet.
If you run it on one GPU it is pretty smooth and looks great. It does not use SLI or CF correctly. Using default settings the second GPU is not utilized at all. Forcing alternate frame rendering 2 let's both GPUs run at 50% utilization and the frame rate is pretty much capped to 60 FPS. It is smooth, but I hate it when games limit FPS. You can partially circumvent the frame rate cap by enabling v-sync in NVIDIA Control Panel and disabling it in the game, but that causes severe artifacts, screen tearing and display jitters. I am uploading a video to show the issues and will post it here. You will see examples of both ways in the video when the upload is finished. This is not passing judgment... just observations of what the issues are right now. Release day is coming up real soon, so we will see if they addressed these issues. I'll be holding off on purchasing until I can snag it for the $20-$25 price point because I don't think it is worth paying any more than that. It has potential to be one of my favorites if they fix all of the issues.
Edit: Here's the video showing the issues...

Mr. Fox said: ↑What I meant by that is if I had not run monitoring tools, being the OCD person that I am, I never would have known things were less than peachy. Yes, the game plays absolutely fine... with all settings totally maxed out it is as smooth as glass and doesn't miss a beat, but it's not optimal. Using the tweak to enable v-sync in NVCP and disable v-sync in-game, as I showed in the video, mostly defeats the locked frame rate nonsense. But, doing so creates issues that don't exist leaving the frame rate locked down. Skyrim has a similar issue that has never been fixed. 680M SLI, 7970M CF and 780M SLI all require v-sync to be enabled for me (580M SLI did not, funny enough) or I get the same kind of artifacts and twitchiness as we see here in Titanfall, only worse to the point of Skyrim being unplayable with v-sync disabled.
I tried using NVIDIA Inspector to add the Titanfall.exe to the Bioshock Infinite profile. That did not work well at all, so I removed it from that profile, and then tried adding it to the COD: Ghosts profile with exactly the same result. Neither trick works as well as creating my own profile in NVIDIA Control Panel and setting it to "Force alternate frame rendering 2" for SLI. It works, just the GPU utilization is way too low. I guess with the locked down FPS it doesn't matter since you're never going to get more than your refresh rate unless they fix that problem before launch or shortly thereafter. With one GPU, two GPUs, or more, if all you're going to get is a frame rate equal to the refresh rate the extra horsepower that is on tap is never utilized. Titanfall plays identical for me with SLI disable or enabled, with the only difference being one GPU runs between 90% and 100% utilization and gets warmer than two GPUs sharing the load and plodding along with a light load of 50% each, LOL.
I saw the screen shot in that thread you posted and that person is only getting 38% GPU utilization with SLI, so I suppose I should be happy with 50-60%.Click to expand...Click to expand...Click to expand...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015vulcan78 likes this. -

Concerning that Far Cry 3 mod, it really is essential as it removes all of the hand-holding icons that I feel baby anyone exploring it, like being able to highlight all enemies. I like being challenged with keeping a mental inventory of where the enemies are in say a camp, their patrol route and line of sight to other enemies. And other things like the loot animation which is greatly accelerated with the mod and the ability to access the entire character development tree right from the get-go. And most importantly the mod removes all of the pronounced, unnecessary sounds when interacting with say a plant or a door "whish, whoom, boom" etc. As far as multi-player maps, I have yet to even try Far Cry 3 multi-player as I have so many other games that do that better. I am still going through the main campaign and have also picked up Blood Dragon mostly because of its nostalgic allure (hey man I was a kid in the 80's and was able to enjoy all of those cheesy 80's movies, Blood Dragon really looks awesome).
If you still haven't installed Ziggy's Mod check this out:

AFR2 didn't alleviate the stutter, it seemed to make it a little worse, and then the HUD started glitching at one point so I reverted to the global SLI profile. Hopefully they come out with an SLI profile soon.

On the subject of gaming... is it just me and my personal preferences? Or, has anyone else noticed Humble Bundle no longer offers much except for cheesy Indie titles and/or super old games I already have or I don't even want because they are so old and/or poor quality? I am not really complaining because I have obtained a lot of great games from them at awesome prices, and I appreciate their charitable cause... just an observation that they have offered nothing recently that even remotely interests me. Today I see Natural Selection 2 is available as 1 good item out of 6 being offered. I already have Natural Selection 2, so not worth getting the bundle no matter how inexpensive it might be because the other stuff I've never even heard of, or it's just an old-moldy (Hotline Miami) that is of no interest.

I think a ripper of a bundle will come up sometime again. I've noticed that that pad out the really good bundles with crappy ones in between. The Sega bundle a couple of weeks back wasn't too bad but I agree we haven't had a must get bundle in ages.
-
I think they rely on the kindness of the publishers to be able hand out games at such amazing prices, in that way they probably don't have much choice of the games they can offer.

I have not purchased it and probably will not without an offline campaign. Even though it is a fantastic game, I have too little interest in online multi-player gaming for it to be worth spending any of my money on it. It would end up just wasting drive space.

Many games focus entirely on the multiplayer experience and although I understand the reason for that, since there's a florid market and people find the human vs human challenge more interesting, I find it disappointing when they leave the single player mode completely out of the equation, as in this case.
Note 1: I removed the dead links from my post: Game Tweaking Utilities and Resources, updated them with new versions, and added Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 12.7.1.0.
Note 2: I have to make a correction about my former post. I erroneously typed "I kind of cheated" when I actually meant saying "I kind of felt cheated" (by the fact that Titanfall has no single player).Mr. Fox likes this. -

I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere. For those who want SLI working in Titanfall you can tweak it using compatibility bits.
Here a pretty straightforward video that did the trick for me.

Very nice. Actually from watching your bench temps I think you confirmed my suspicions with regards to Liquid Metal Ultra TIM (assuming you didn't do your meat locker setup).
I was stingy and only applied the metal to the die of the CPU/GPU, not the HS too. Also because I knew that you had applied it to both and I wanted to see if there would be a noticeable difference just doing the die as if it was a normal TIM. I'm thinking your application is the best way with this stuff.
Anyway I have some more on order and will lap the HS this time too and see what kind of difference I get under increasing warmer ambient temps. If the temps improve under increasingly warmer days/nights then it's a definitive tick in favor of covering both surfaces. Will let y'all know in the Coollaboratories thread.

No AC cooling, just the fans. I don't use AC cooling much any more since applying Liquid Ultra. I only need it for higher CPU overclocks and a lot more GPU voltage than what I was using there. -
After 2-3 weeks of use,it's official, I'm in love with the Liquid Ultra paste. I can't really describe how good it is, with a minimun of 40-42° on cpu and 36° and 35° respectively on both GPUs on boot up, while ambient temps nowadays is around 30°. Playing games with it became a charm. Where a Battlefield 4 on max settings and stock OC would bump the CPU temps around 83-84 constantly, now it hardly reaches 79° at max,and even if it does hit the 80°,it will quickly fall back to 79° out of shame. It is so good that I would have already brushed it under the armpits if it was going to work there too.
Not sure if we have a general thread for compounds feedbacks,so I've posted it here. I'd post some pics too if needed, but I'm so sure everyone here knows it so good that there's not the need.

No need to panic if GPU-Z says your NVIDIA GPU does not have PhysX support. It does if the software is installed. However, GPU-Z sometimes does not detect PhysX correctly. As you can see from the screen shot in the video, the the Windows Installer version of GPU-Z on the left does, but the standalone (portable version) does not. PhysX functionality can be confirmed and tested by using the free FluidMark utility.

Wanted to map my macro keys to control volume and eject the disk while playing games but no luck because Alienware TactX doesn't detect the "Fn" key when pressed
. Did anyone have more luck? I wanted to map A to turn the volume down, B - Volume Up, C - Mute, D - Eject Disk. Or maybe someone could share an AKP file with these settings?
