I have recently purchased an M18x with the following specs.

i7 2670QM processor(2.2-3.0ghz), 6gb 1333 ram, 2x6990m in crossfire and 64gb ssd, 750gb hdd. I have upodated to the latest 05 Bios, dell drivers and CAP.

I will be mainly e-mailing, browsing internet and playing games such as BF3, Star Wars MMO etc.

Firstly, can the 2670QM be overclocked.

If so, is it worth trying this or is the current speed of the cpu more than enough for my needs.I'm not into benchmarks but will try something if it can improve games performance.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Read here and here

If you are happy with how games are running nowm then you have your answer already. If you're having issues, it's time to tweak :)

Personally, I find my system more than adequate for anything i throw at it with the default settings. Overclocking for me is just a means to satisfy my need to blow stuff up.

Sadly you can overclock the 2670 because its mulipliers are locked :( the only CPU's that can be overclocked in the m18x are the 2920/2960. :(

You can still overclock the GPUs and that boosts gaming performance more than overclocking the CPU anyway.
