Guys guys guys, what we actually need to do is ask for dellienware to make, as bigtonyman suggested, ask for dellienware to make the alienware 18 use a desktop class cpu, dual gpu setup, AND support for the GA to rival desktops. This would be the perfect ideal world solution imo.
-
That might be a bit too much to ask, but i would be happy if they keep NON BGA crap + the alienware port for Desktop GPU.
And, 144Hz panel please...
A month ago had the pleasure to play a few hours on Asus Rog Swift PG278Q 27" monitor with Gsync and oh my god... the difference was night and day. The Gsync 144 Hz for FPS games was simply amazing. Coudnt come back to my Dell U2414H after that - though it was broken or something.reborn2003, bumbo2 and nightingale like this. -
You have my sword!
I regret holding off for broadwell to purchase a 18.

If they do not bring the alienware 18 back with 980m sli, i think this looks like a nice alternative.
GT80 Titan SLI: looks quite nice!

Lol...yeah yeah yeah..."review it internally"..sure thing "Frankie" we've heard it all before.
The ball has already been dropped.Ashtrix and Rotary Heart like this. -
Even if they make it comeback there are still a ton of issues for that machine, can't even compare the Viking with an M18x R2 or a P377SM-A, It just won't fit unfortunately.

"Guys, there is a rally of people making fuzz in our IdeaStom website. We need to deal with them to keep their noise down"
"Here is the support cheat we got from Dell HQ to deal with these things best way possible. I`d say we just post line #9. That will do"
"I`m kinda new here guys. How do my BotSuperior 2000 program post it on the website?"
"Sigh, here, press CTRL+FN+9 and it will copy line #9 and automatically post it on the website under your name"
"Ok done. Haha, brilliant guys. They think we will actually look at it now"
"Yeah, its the ususal corporate BS to calm them down. They can`t prove that we arent really looking at it and there is now way they will get Alienware 18 back for atleast a couple of years"
"Suckers!"
"Yes, our technician monkeys wasted far too much time on replacing motherboards and graphic cards when it wasnt really the need for it. We lost a crapload of money on it. Best to just solder everything down and lock everything down to discourage user from fiddling with our system"
"But sir, they used their own money on it and paid big money for it. Shouldnt they really be allowed to replace parts, use BIOS within reason and do their own upgrades?"
"Nah, we are moving to soldered GPUs and CPUs now. Got to go with the flow. We got the brilliant Graphic Amplifier if they absolutely need to replace the GPUs for more performance"
"But isnt that just another box they need to deal with? I mean, its a medium sized desktop. It also needs its own power supply cable plus cable to the notebook itself."
"Let our marketing department deal with that. They know how to trick the zombies to think its a great idea. After all, we called it "Graphic Amplifier" for a reason.
Now get back to work"Ashtrix, Rotary Heart and TomJGX like this. -
..."But sir, they used their own money on it and paid big money for it. Shouldnt they really be allowed to replace parts, use BIOS within reason and do their own upgrades?"
Boss (inner thinking) - Holy crap this guy is thinking by himself. I have to do something right now before we lose the whole herd.
Shouting at loud: YOU ARE FIRED! Go immediately to the cleaning room and lock down the door, and don't you dare to go outside until everyone else are gone.
employee: òÓ!!!!
I think it is now more real. -
