I got this morning my 8970m and went to service for immediate GPU re baling (removed GPU core and new solder) like I did with my 6990m. Then service noticed some deformations on some parts. I will post pictures. Can you please help me with your knowledge. I have installed it in my M18x R1 and got 5 beeps. Turned off laptop, removed battery, removed bios battery, cleared cmos with screwdriver by jumping connections as on many post like people had problem and now I have 8 beeps (LCD broken),tried numerous stuff which I read on this and other forums,NOTHING. 5 beeps then 8 beeps after restart. Then I took photos of that parts 0909NS(HAY317) part which I found like they were blown and re soldered. See for your self. I have found 0909NS is power mosfet chip. But this extension I am unable to find HAY317. 0909NS chip with other extensions I can find but I think there are differences in current and stuff. So basically there is problem with current on GPU 8970m. I returned to my 6990m in crossfire and have no problems. Everything is working great. What should I do and test???

Why do you reball 8970M? It doesn't have soldering problems

Because I got big performance jump on mine 6990m... Also It will work better anyway. Well if there isn't another problem involved.

You shouldn't reball if there are no problems. Past 7970M/680M cards are stable.

Thank you for you oppinion but I think you are missing the point. Point is I have problem NOT with reballing but with above stated mosfet capacitors. I was back in the days doing reball of new desktop cards as soon as I get new one. GT9600,etc... And I thought that latter model didn't had soldering problems until I had problem with my M18xR1 which YOU told me that it does have some problems like these. Also that GT9600 is still working 24hrs/non stop 24/7/365 at my parents home. My dad never shuts down pc... And that is why I will reball every single GPU I get with laptop or buy separate.

You are asking for a problem but it's your choice.
