A few months ago I posted a thread about how if I would connect my Alienware 218 to the TV via the HDMI cable. Everything on the TV is smooth but then things on my laptop would have extreme screen tearing. Even things as simple as scrolling up and down on a site would have huge tearing effect as if it was being rendered in slow motion.

That happened on both my previous Radeon R9 M290X and the current 780M GTX so we concluded on the forum that this is normal behavior when connected to HDMI

Now I just got this HDMI cable as a small upgrade from my previous generic HDMI cable ( Monoprice 30-Feet Ultra Slim Series High Performance HDMI Cable with RedMere Technology ) and to my surprise, I connected it to the TV and now I get no tearing on my laptop's screen so I can actually have the cable plugged in 24/7.

It seems that a high quality cable does pay off although it was really cheap anyway!

That's awesome! If I see anyone having a similar issue, I'll definitely suggest this option. Thanks for sharing what worked out for you!

yes and it's a cheap fix man. $11 USD and now we know for sure it's not an issue with the video card or the laptop itself.
