First of all , hello everyone, I have been MIA lately from my hobbie due to my mom finding out she has stage 4 bone cancer... Anyone who has a family member go through it , knows how i feel.
Anyhow, my system used to boot to windows extremely quick. Windows is on my raid 0 Samsung Pro SSD's. Recently I added a 4TB external Western Digital Hard drive. I got it for $95 and some change from a store closing down so I had to grab it. Anyway as many of you probably can guess having it connected while the system starts up causes the boot time to double. Well it feels like its doubled atleast. lol.
Is there anything in the BIOS I can change, turn off, turn on, or whatever to maybe speed up the boot up process. Or am I just stuck with the slower boot time? I mean I could disconnect it, and reconnect it, but I'd rather not have to if at all possible. Thank you for any of your help. Its much appreciated.
Oh I forgot, the drive is connected through USB although the connection to the back of the actual external hard drive I am not familiar with. Thank you again.

Brother, sorry to hear about the bad news. My best wishes to your Mother, yourself and all the people in her life for strength during these tough times.
Regarding the slower boot with externals connected, I have the same delema if I connect my bank of external powered USB hard drives. It at least doubles to triples the launch time indexing all the data.
Unplugging them on launch seems the only way around it but if someone chimes in on a solution or trick I'd be happy to hear.
It actually doesn't bother me too since I know the speed is there if they're not connected. -
BTW, best wishes to your Mother and family.. I had my grandfather die of Lung cancer when I was young and can't imagine how bad it is since my parents kind of protected us
Slow boot up times now
