It's something I've definitely considered, but I don't see why I should bother doing so if I can achieve the same thing through KBT. I just want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing in KBT before I try and flash a card, unfortunately I can't find any particularly useful guides online on exactly what to do.

They took a long time releasing the 880M vBIOS because people kept claiming they could do just that, and nobody was able to come forward with one. So while you might be able to do it, it may be very dangerous, which is why I specifically suggested you try asking for that XD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the main breakthrough with that modded vBIOS is the removal of the thermal throttling? I have no intention of doing that, simply reducing the clock speed. Of course, what I want to do might not be possible with a simple mod to the stock vBIOS, and this is all why I'm asking the advice of people here who have experience with vBIOS modding before I go off and give it a go.

No, it's removal of actual random throttling and the boost clock system and removal of the +135MHz core clock OC limit. It also allows voltage adjustments for the card I believe which is off by default.

I'm just making sure you know exactly what you get into before you try it.

That is the problem. You can not just flash our vbios using that to mod the file. And the minute you tried anything with the kepler tool you brick the card. You need an unlocked bios first. Then you can recover your vbios to factory vbios. if you do not have a modded one you can not recover it. You would need to go the dell route.
