Hello everyone....AGAIN lol...I just wanted to see if anyone is having issues with AVAST and Alienware...

I have had no problem with the computer thus far...Well today I turn it on and try to connect to my wireless hot spot (Only internet I have here on vessel) and it doesn't recognize it. Well i confirm hotspot is putting out (connected to it from cell phone) and so I elimanted that problem.

Well I took a stroll down Device Manager Lane and noticed there were about a DOZEN Avast Mini Ports that had not installed correctly and were showing a yellow arrow. I tried to delete them and no such luck. I then uninstalled avvast and tried reinstalling and now I have about a DOZEN unknown devices!!

Also I tried to disable and re-enable the wireless adapter and nothing. Actually I get a blue screen now from windows 8 with the sad face :( collecting info from the problem. Any ideas??? Maybe the card just went out all of a sudden??? Thanks for any help and ill fill in any details as requested. Also I am able to tether my phone to laptop and write this message...I don't know if that helps...Thanks

    OK UPDATE!!!

I uninstalled and reinstalled AVAST with no difference at first...I then ran windows update and it detected nothing!! I restarted windows and went to control panel...I UNINSTALLED the wireless controller #2 and then came back to device manager a few mins later and it showed the ORIGINAL Intel Wireless 2230 device there...I then opened up wireless connections and it showed the hotspot!! very strange!!

I restarted the computer several times before this and nothing...I shut it down completely and also the hotspot even taking the battery out...Im sure the hotspot was not to blame but something was def triggering problem with windows 8...I know this helps no one but just try to restart several times and keep an eye on the control panel and your wireless adapter in the NETWORK ADAPTER tab...for some reason it changed to #2 during this problem and when I was able to get it back to original state it began working..

Hope this elusive prob doesn't happen to YOU!!

Windows 8 has built in antivirus (Windows Defender, a.k.a. MS Security Essentials), just remove Avast altogether.
