Full, un-cut Pascal cards in mobile form factor is a thing now in case you missed it.

This is also a reliable confirmation as to whether or not Nvidia really is discontinuing the M line as these are all MXM form factor.

GTX 1070 with the TDP of 980M and about as fast as 980 Ti mated to a 120Hz G-Sync display! Very nice if you can actually afford one at this point!

Display? If they don't finally move from 60Hz, non G-Sync displays they are dead in the water.

Edit: Just checkout out the Aorus. I'm sorry but 1060 isn't going to push 4K (1060 supposedly as fast as 980?) unless your idea of pushing 4K is 25 FPS.

1060 and 75-120Hz 1080p G-Sync display would be an ideal use of it's compute power.

I don't know. They have OLED, so maybe G-SYNC. I'd say they need to have G-SYNC to remain competitive.

Worth the wait to find out. ;)

Alienware is usually late to the party and in some instances 1/2 way through the product cycle before they release. Cutting edge is gone with AW and they are now a standard retail supplier without real innovation.

No, these are MXM form factor, i.e. the Desktop GTX 980 in the Clevo NP9870-G.

Thought they were making standard MXM versions of the 1070 as well?

It all depends on whether we can fit in. By right, in theory, the Alienware 18 can run the Desktop Class MxM cards, its just that they can't physically fit in.

Also noticed that MSI also made GTX 980 Desktop Class MxMs for their GT80S Titan with the same exact size as the M Versions (GTX 980M).

So, the only thing we need to worry about more is cooling. Chances are, the 100W heatsinks in our 18s, are gonna struggle, even with the fans on full speed.

Have a friend who works for NVIDIA, he says that primarily, NVIDIA does NOT manufacture stock MxM GPU cards; it is much more for the laptop manufacturers to do it like ASUS, MSI, Alienware, etc. NVIDIA only gives the chips and the essentials, the manufacturing is done by the laptop manufacturer. Its also the reason how ASUS make stuff like Super Alloy Technology in their Desktop GPUs.

Check out Asus's GX800, mechanical keboard, liquid cooling docking station, an 18.4" 120Hz G-Sync display, GTX 1080's that are apparently 100% as fast as their desktop counterparts with a 39k Firestrike GPU score!

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ROG-GX800VH-Notebook-Preview.171399.0.html

I wasn't kidding when I said youre going to want to throw your M18x / AW18 in the trash! It's making me want to throw my desktop in the trash (signature).

    Correction:

4K display, I'm seeing conflicting reports as to the display available in this thing, I think a 60Hz 4k display is a bad move, I'd much rather have a 120+Hz 1080p G-Sync panel, it's only 18.4", you can't even appreciate 4k on that display, what a waste of GPU compute power. Idiotic designers.
