I got error message saying: The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support. This message is generated under both my Nvidia Geforce GTX 980m cards. I find it strange since I was playing around with the earlier win10 builds and had no issues. Its always something. Anyone else get this error message. I wonder if its the NVidia drivers that I have installed that are not for win10? My pc is working well and I'm not really feeling like missing with it. Sigh,![]()

It might be the fact that Windoze OS X is hell bent on installing its own drivers instead of letting the machine owner decide the best course of action. If they don't have a driver that matches your aftermarket upgrade hardware ID, that may be compounding the problem. I'd make an image of your Windows 8.1 installation so you can easily undo Micro$haft's damage if you need to, then go ahead and install (hopefully that is not blocking the OS installation) then use Windoze OS X drivers from NVIDIA. You're probably going to need to use the nifty new tool to block Windows 10 updates for the video drivers to keep the problem from resurfacing. If the installation of the OS is being blocked, switch to Intel HD Graphics and install that way first.
This sort of nonsense is only going to get worse from here on out. Windoze OS X is the harbinger of doom for enthusiasts. Just wait for systems to ship with UEFI Class 3 BIOS... should be lovely. -
Thanks for the advice Mr. Fox, your comment also reminded me that certain things will be hidden from the win10 user. Like system restore, the user will have to go find it. It amazes me that as things get more "ADVANCED" the harder it seems to be for the user to do what they want with their pcs. It's as if OS maker just wants user to turn on PC and do nothing else. It's like owning a car and the owner can only put gas in it- no modding.

Yup, really disgusting. Sad times we're living in.

I had the same message but with my 780m. I just downloaded the upgrade with this http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 it installed correctly and didn't say nothing about any compatibility issues.

UPDATE:
After some fiddling around I was able to use my own ID again by changing a number in my ID string. All is back to normal Nvidia panel present SLI enabled-YEAHLast edited: Jul 30, 2015 -
Alright, hitting a wall here. On Win 7 I had been running (very happily) Fox's modded 344.75 driver for my 780M on an M18X R2. Dual booting Win 7 with Win 10 on a new SSD, I can't seem to figure out how to get the driver to install on Win 10. I am not very familiar with modding .inf files, but willing to learn. Googled around and tried some guides, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Is that driver just too old for WIn 10? I tried the 353.62 driver from laptopvideo2go as well, shows not compatible. Assuming because I am using an R2, not a new 18. I feel like a real idiot here, surely this should be easy, right? Sorry guys for the noob post. I almost never post, because I always just find my answers via search, but I am scratching my head here. Maybe I need sleep lol.
UPDATE: Was able to add my device ID in to the 353.62 .inf and it no longer said incompatible. But driver install still failed. Does Win 10 have some form of driver signing enforcement that needs to be disabled, like in Win 8?Last edited: Jul 31, 2015 -

My apologies for the super late reply here, life happens sometimes lol. Thanks for the reply Fox. I think for me it was a blessing in disguise that I never got this working, and have remained on Win 7 for the past 10 days (haven't had any time to play around with getting Win 10 working). I just read your warning threads both here and on the GeForce forums, and you saved me from likely replacing a display panel. I will be remaining on Win 7 until that whole debacle gets resolved, or at least figured out. Thanks for bringing such an issue to light!
