See my pics. What![]()
in the world is this weird multi monitor type icon with a number over it in the corner of my screen. Thought it was related to hwinfo or rst but when I closed those, it is still there. Driving me nuts, anyone know what is going on?

Do you have Shadowplay enabled? I haven't used it for a long time, but I am wondering if it is a framerate counter. They used to have one in GFE on the same screen as Shadowplay configuration. I am assuming they still do, but I am not sure about the icon is that looks like a stacked video/film logo. That's where I would look first is GFE. If not Shadowplay, maybe something for streaming. If you cannot figure it out, uninstall GFE and see if it goes away.

I don have GFE installed. I have no idea what this is. This is on the new 18 with the 4940, 980m sli, running 8.1. No Geforce Experience installed, just the Nvidia control panel. Hooked up to an external monitor.

OK, one more stupid question: Does it appear on multiple games, or only the example used in your screen shot? I don't own FC4.
I am sure you have already scanned through what is installed in Add/Remove Programs and don't see anything unusual there. I am really curious to find out what it is also. -

I was wondering if it was just a Far Cry issue too, though it never did that when I played it on my other AW. I am now installing another game. Far Cry was the first game I got to install after getting my drives situated.

Well, it looks like it may just be a Far Cry thing. I tried Wolfenstein with HWinfo and RST and it was not there so hopefully that's all it is. Haven't much time as I had tech support here trying to fix my display, that was a no go so back to the drawing board.

Is there anything in the monitoring or gaming profile features included in Alienware Control Center that might produce an on-screen overlay like that? The thought just now occurred to me. There are some features in AWCC which I have never used or tested before, simply because I haven't needed to or maybe don't even know what I am missing.

I have no idea, I will be looking through things probably later tonight. May even be something in the disaster of a gaming service they call "Uplay". I'll Check around and see what I find. Tech couldn't fix the crazy light bleed in the display so I'm going to have to fool with that more too. Got it looking good and then when the bezel is put on, it gets bad again. Got a new bezel and it does the same thing. It's like torture buying a new AW. Anyway, I think..hope, that the weird icon is related to a fps moniter option in Uplay or FC4 itself.
What in the world is this
