I would say if you haven't already done so...extend your warranty. They will usually extend it for up to 5 years beyond the purchase date by calling them. The most you can get online when purchasing it is 4 years. I've got 4 or 5 years on all of my AWs now. Just about everything else they offer is overpriced anyway...

I was told on the phone you can't use it towards the warranty?

Really? I haven't used one of those $200 ones, but every time I have bought an extended warranty, I used the $75 gift card I got from the last extension purchase towards extending the next warranty. I've done it two or three times already. If it's just the standard 5% "cash back" gift card, I don't know why it couldn't be used towards that. I would certainly try...

ah okay, maybe it's the $200 promo one for students that can't be used towards warranty but the % back ones can

I think my phone guy didn't know as much as maybe he should have... or misled me (on this and other stuff)

Don't care too much about warranty so I used it on the backpack, a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard.

With Dell's subpar customer service, I have no faith on its warranty.

Warranty will cover any damaged component. You may need it in the future, it's electronics... and they fail from time to time. Hopefully nothing will happen to yours but the warranty would have been a wise choice.

Unfortunately Dell's customer service is terribly disappointing, albeit you guys might be doing a fine job here. I won't be buying any Dell in the future, and will discourage any of my acquaintance from getting one.

And under my circumstance, warranty or no warranty it doesn't make much difference. I was told that once I transfer the warranty to another region, I will have to pay to replace any parts that's broken. Might as well just buy the parts and replace them myself. At least I get to save some money there, and won't get re-routed endlessly for HOURS while calling Dell.

Is there a reason why the Dell site never has the Everki Titan backpack in stock? I see it on the Dell Australia site all the time for tons cheaper. Maybe it's because it's manufactured in China, but I don't think I've seen the Titan on the US site ever.

Also, Luis, can you or anyone at Dell confirm the WirelessHD for the Alienware 18 machines? It was on the landing page during launch, but I don't see it listed there anymore. I was considering picking up the WirelessHD receiver made by Zyxel, but that's gone from the website now as well...

We don't even get promotions like this in the UK, so I can't comment what I would have done with it. With warranty being the fiasco/roulette wheel that it appears to be of late for many people, I certainly would not spend it on that, even if I had one....I'd rather buy something tangible, sell it and stick the money on a horse - probably better odds of getting a result vs. warranty.

It may be a region thing. You could try contacting the sales team.
It's no longer available as per the engineering team decision. It could have to do with previous issues between that and the nvidia/3D cards.

If I was getting a loaded AW 18, I'd probably use the giftcard for a 27" Ultrasharp monitor. May as well have a monster monitor for a monster computer.

I agree, extended warranty FTW. I have found Alienware Tech Support warranty service to be excellent. I've extended mine to the maximum 5 years permitted. I'm good until 8/2014, at which point no extension is possible.

What if we paid with a CC which will extend it another year up to 5 years already? I really hope Dell has something I'd want to buy in the shop. I tried to use a coupon on the Samsung 840 Pro, but it didn't take...Price has been cheaper elsewhere as well.

I suppose I can buy another monitor, but I'd have to go out of pocket a little...Any other suggestions?

Warranty, it could pay itself back many times.

Also most companies wont transfer a warranty to another region.
