question is, if I add mSATA ssd to cache-accelerate the 2TB HDD I have , will this cause problems regards the current data on the 2TB drive getting corrupt or be gone after I add the mSATA as cache accelerate drive?
Need answer asap from someone who has some background regards this.
Thanks

Adding one shouldn't. If you are changing the size you go to the rst program (rapid storage technology) and remove the cache drive then replace the drive and add the new one in the rst. The cache drive is limited to 64gig.
But with all storage device work back up your data before you begin. -

Seems pretty accurate to me, just be aware switching to RAID mode from AHCI needs some windows adjustments to be made otherwise it will just BSOD every boot. -
well thats all nice and sound, lol, only if the accelerate button would appear
Ive ran trough lots of ways trying to figure it all out but Im now at this page here as my last resort, maybe i've missed something.
its win7 x64 pro
I know its not dell forum but its of the same family and I believe I will be able to grasp the real experts advice here quicker than anywhere else... Its Dell precision M4700 im trying to set up here.
Bios is set to Legacy mode only, no secure boot or etc. It has 250GB EVO SSD + 40GB intel mSATA SSD + 2TB M9T HDD. OS is installed on 250GB SSD, 40GB mSATA was intended to use as cache accelerator for 2TB HDD , BIOS is set to RAID mode, I can see IRST OROM 11.2.xxxxx on bios post and all the drives present and all are ok in NON-RAID modes etc.
Ive tried all the versions of IRST from 11 to the latest 13.2 downloaded from intel website with no joy.
I have tried removing all partitions and converting mSATA drive to GPT-Dynamic-MBR , to no joy... my system was on A11 bios, and dared to upgrade it to A12 just to see if anything will get solved, again, no luck... so Im stuck with no ideas.

Aha, I just figured it out, I had to shrink the 2TB HDD down by 8MB to have IRST to allow me do the SSD acceleration. I will try and see on another HDD if it will destroy the data on it after acceleration enabled and running or not.
update, it didnt. All worked out smoothly. Intel is left with some bugs to fixLast edited: Feb 14, 2015Ashtrix and reborn2003 like this. -

Will this destroy my data? Adding mSata to cache accelerate 2TB HDD with current data on it
