    Hi All,

    Looking for some help with getting Win 10 to recognize my custom graphic card. I am running a 680m on a Mx18 R1. The usual inf. file that works on Win7 is not working on Win 10, therefore I can't install my card?

    Any ideas please? Struggling big time.... upload_2015-7-31_19-15-51.png
    I have attached the error that I'm getting.

    Thanks all.

    Mrrep

    In the .inf file, there are sections corresponding to each Windows version. As far as I remember it was:

    - 6.0 for windows 7.
    - 6.1 for windows 8.
    - 6.2 for windows 8.1.
    - 6.3? for windows 10?

    Just move your custom lines to whatever section has the higher number, that should fix it.

    Thanks for the reply, I'm pretty rubbish at all this. Can you explain in more detail when you have time?

    Thank you

    Sure, attach your .inf file and start downloading the Win 10 drivers while you are at it, as you will probably need them.

    Thank you. Not sure that is the correct .inf to mod, but seems to work on Win 7. Win 10 drivers downloaded.

    OK, assuming you gave me the correct .inf, you will have to copy all these lines at the bottom part of the .inf files of your new windows 10 drivers:

    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0270.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M"
    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0271.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0371.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0372.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.5105.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M "
    NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.7102.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M "

    These goes all the way in the bottom of the file, just after the last line that looks like them.

    And these ones have to be pasted at the end of the section corresponding to the OS (just like the top ones) that you are trying to install (6.1 Windows 7, 6.2 Windows 8, 6.3 Windows 8.1, 6.4 Windows 10??). The sections can be found somewhere in the top part of the file.

    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0270.1558% = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_02701558
    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0271.1558% = Section075, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_02711558
    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0371.1558% = Section071, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_03711558
    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.0372.1558% = Section075, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_03721558
    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.5105.1558% = Section028, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_048F1028
    %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.7102.1558% = Section028, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_71021558

    If you are not sure where to put them or see more than one section with the same name, just paste them everywhere you see lines that look like the ones above. Also, I am not sure which .inf file you have to modify for the Win 10 drivers, so hopefully it has the same name.

    PS. Also, you make sure to disable Driver Signature Verification before you attempt to install the drivers.

    I dont have any Nvidia cards atm, but you can try to look for .inf files with similar format and try again. The section for Windows 10 seems to be 10.0. Also, make you you properly uninstall your previous drivers, run DDU in safe mode, run Ccleaner, disable Driver Signature, and kill all remaining Nvidia processes from the Task Manager before installing as it has been reported that those processes are causing the installation to fail.

    No problem, that .inf is always changing name so sometimes it cant get tedious...
