Hey guys, I have my AW18 Here with 2 m290x's and I feel like they don't pack a punch, as well as the 4810MQ lacking the performance I need, so want to upgrade. Is it worth it though? Should I go for 980m or 970m? Stick with CPU? I need your help guys.

4930MX + 980M SLI will make it monster.

Before upgrading make sure you upgrade to the latest bios for the AW18. You will need it for the 980ms to work. I don't know if the same applies to the 970ms. The 4930xm is better at overclocking than the 4940mx. With that being said, my 2 cents is to stay away from the 980ms. They are expensive and unreliable. THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE. Within a year I replaced my 980ms three times because of failure. So instead of replacing them again outside of warranty I'm using what I have now. Hopefully, whatever you get you will have a better result than me. Also, keep an eye out for Prema vbios, they improve the performance of the cards.
